Stride Gum Presents Heaven Sent
Luke Aikins, the first person to accomplish a planned jump out of an airplane without a parachute or wing suit from a very high altitude (25,000 feet) (7,620 meters). Aikins eventually lands in a net.
"Jumpers are away. Now he's practicing the flip. That's how he'll have to land. He'll have to land on his back. At 18,000 feet the oxygen mask will come off. There goes the oxygen mask. Now at 12,000 feet he'll hear a beep in his helmet that will tell him he's halfway home."
The daring stunt is now in The Guinness Book Of World Records as the first complete planned jump from an airplane without a parachute: Luke Aikins.

For those that didn’t watch the making of this jump concept he uses a laser guided system in his helmet to double check his trajectory. Also his team created that V around him which made sure he was aligned before they pulled chutes. An absolute marvel of strategy and skill. 🔥

I have really puzzled over that. Anybody who jumps know how tricky spotting even from 10K' ft. can be. Even with GPS, winds aloft and side slippage could still have one miss a bulls-eye by 100'. From 25K', it seemed near impossible without a square parachute to get you back. Triangulation using a laser explains it.

Skydivers use helmets for numerous reasons. To protect them from sudden head trauma while exiting the plane door. Either it's tailgate exit or side door. To protect them from impacts with other jumpers in formations and/or while doing joint exists (legs, arms etc) and to protect against all sorts of head injuries when landing the parachute - the latter doesn't apply to this guy in the same manner yet the net can be quite unforgiving. If you look at a skydiver helmet after it's been used for some years it's normally full of scratches from hard landings and even dents from numerous encounters with pebbles, bushes, trees or snags when landing. So a helmet is quite practical.

Now I have, on one occasion and one occasion only, opened my chute at 1,000 feet. First off, you are falling terminal velocity at 200 feet per second. And the ground rush you get at 1,000 feet is unsettling to say the least. I've experienced it and yet I can't imagine what he was experiencing that last thousand feet. Anyone hating will never achieve something memorable. This is a fucking amazing feat of human perserverance. 25,000 feet... people have died from 4 foot falls.

while there are many many UKposts videos displaying incredible amounts of courage, confidence and carelessness, Luke Atkins is King... albeit there's a staggering number of completely insane wingsuit and base jumping vids, Isle of Man TT vids, crazy mofos up 17000 feet in paramotors, or strapped to jetpacks flying next to 747s, homeboy jumping from 25,000 ft with no parachute into a net is the winner

Also, they're complaint about money being wasted for something like this, when I'm certain they watch movies fairly regularly. I doubt this cost anywhere near the amount of a summer blockbuster, and the money went to people doing some impressive engineering. Once something like this has been done, the limits are opened further. Crazy feats like this aren't just to blow money, they can be inspiring. Yeah, not everyone should do this, but that's not the point. The point is someone did, and those who helped him share in the success. No risk, no reward.

Most life insurance company's wont insure a person with any history of skydiving. Its best to lie about skydiving if you know your done with the sport. But if your still active in the sport, don't lie, they can deny payment and keep premiums.

Just watched Blaines “ascension” which as a fellow skydiver had risk for sure, but this.... This is absolutely insane. Anybody who has ever jumped will tell you that not only is this incredibly difficult but really blows away what Blaine did. All the props to Blaine because he did this for his daughter, had zero skydiving experience etc. but man.. Why this doesn’t have 100mm views I have no idea..

A reminder that we can't fall any faster than 120 mph. People have survived leaving an aircraft at 50,000 feet, hitting tops of trees, and then falling down hundreds of feet of snow covered hills. ( Russian pilot, ww2) showing that these things can be survivable. An army parachute is only 28 feet across, and the jumper has about 70 pounds of equipment. There is a very fine line between surviving and death, with and without a parachute. I have survived two parachute malfunctions. On one, I actually hit the side of a snow covered slope, head down, traveled down one side of a ditch, up the other , now right side up, and landed on my feet. Others have been killed with a fully functioning parachute. It is mainly how and where you land....and tons of luck.
@senna6547
@senna6547 Місяць тому
you 100% can fall faster than 120MPH...it all depends on surface area, body position and weight. my fat-ass can comfortably fall at 135-140MPH in a belly-to-earth orientation

@ItsJustAPlug to " fall", is to fall uncontrollably, tumbling. To take a streamlined position to gain speed, could be called flying, as we take a position to eliminate tumbling.
