This is a high-end Tiny House and I LOVE IT! Also, I think it's important to include ALL types of Tiny Homes on my channel. A few weeks ago, I published a tour of a Tiny House built for $25,000 with reclaimed materials. There is a huge spectrum for these houses, and it has nothing to do with size (they are all tiny). Instead, each house is unique for different needs, wants, and income levels. That's what makes this movement so special. In my opinion, showcasing Tiny Homes with different price tags proves that: 1). Tiny Houses can't be measured by cost per square foot, 2). You get what you pay for, and 3). Each Tiny House truly matches its owner. Don't make jealous comments if you can't afford a $125k house! You can build a Tiny for much less. Remember, there's no trophy for who can live in the most frugal Tiny House. If there was, I wouldn't want to win it!

Thank you for posting a variety of houses. I may not be able to afford doing any of these designs yet but I am learning something from every video. As an example, their idea of the appliance shelves in the kitchen would save counter space even if I used a regular coffee pot instead or the separated toilet room in the bathroom are both good ideas

It's not a jealous comment lol. I think people are fixating on the price. It's really not that expensive. Condo around my area cost more for the same size. I am laughing at the sustainability portion of their thought process.

This is a good book. Does provide a step by step introduction to how to build things ukposts.infoUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 , also does offer some steps. Includes pictures to give you ideas for layouts and such. If you are looking for a guide, this is not exactly what you want. But if you are trying to familiarize yourself with the way that pole barn building and other out buildings, are made, then this will work just as you need it to. A few things in this book are a barn (of course), detached garage, storage building, and coops.

I'm curious, what do you guys think is the average mpg of towing a Tiny House?
@EmmanuelJarri
@EmmanuelJarri 3 роки тому
I just replied to a comment about this, let me copy paste it hereunder, and please tell me if it seems correct to you ! :-) Average US yearly car mileage = 13000 miles/year. Average car does 25 MPG => 13000 / 25 = 520 gallons / year As most household own 2 cars or more, we can consider 1000 gallons / year. The big unknown is how much do they drive? The only clue I noted is : they stay on spot for 1 month or so. They also mention they love to entertain and have friends. So we could assume they are travelling around a local area (if friends cannot travel like they do). So mileage is probably low. BUT let's assume they travel a lot, because the whole point is being able to travel freely (and this freedom is priceless btw). Average US State size is 63000 square miles (including Alaska, 1st with 570,000 sq miles). This means the average distance from state to a contiguous state is exactly 250 miles, the square root of 63000. Which means they would drive 250 miles / month with the rig = 3000 miles / year Average MPG of semi being 6 MPG, that would mean 3000 / 6 = 500 gallons / year. In their case the even have a better MPG of 7 to 8.5 MPG (thanks to lightweight materials). So ABOUT HALF OR THE SAME AS 1 OR 2 DAILY COMMUTERS GOING TO WORK. Additionally : - a rig has such a long life span, that only one would be necessary to a whole life of travel (1 Million mile), to compare to close to 10 cars for 2 daily commuters for a million mile (200,000 miles / 1 car life on average) Those 10 cars require energy to build, to maintain, and then to recycle (if only...) when only 1 rig would be assembled, maintained and recycled. - They would probably have gone / will go, for a more sustainable option when available : enter the Tesla Semi, or Nikola Semi-truck (given that they already use solar panels and Tesla batteries, that would make sense)

Lion in the sun that’s pretty presumptuous of you. No, not everyone could no matter how motivated they were. Patrick is correct in what he said. It is definitely high end and beautiful and beautifully built but also they didn’t mention the cost of their towing vehicle. The semi and it’s conversion cost would have to be added on. Then there’s their electric car... they don’t come cheap either. So, @Lion in the sun ... No one is whinging or complaining or feeling sorry for themselves, just stating simple facts. So, get down from your high horse and read what’s there not what you’ve decided is there!

Brilliant and efficient! A legit tiny house, blessed with high- tech extras, a truly tiny car, and the safest, most efficent vehicle to tow it. Yes, it is. You'll not get 8mpg with a pickup truck this heavily laden. 21k# house + 2k# car is more than the beefiest diesel pickups can even remotely tow, much less safely maneuver or stop in emergencies. Yes, they invested a lot of money, but it's worth it. They're off grid, they're happy, and this was a wonderful video!

But zero emission, no compromise, mobile tiny home is very attractive to the nomad in me. I think as starlink internet becomes more widespread in America, this type of setup will be more attractive My dream would be to take this beast from national park to national park, build AirBnB vacation homes near the parks, and use the Tesla smart driving to keep me from crashing and killing someone, haha. The latter, though expensive, is necessary considering I’ve had trouble parking u haul trucks lol

This thing is amazing! Some of their design ideas are absolutely BRILLIANT. The luxury aspect is a bit much for me, but it is clear these folks are super happy with what they built themselves(!) and considering they were living in 5,000 square feet...it's amazing they even thought they could downsize their physical space like this. Another thing about this to consider: A couple like this, who were using so much before, has a bigger impact on the environment when they switch to a tiny lifestyle. It may go against the grain for some in the community to welcome "rich people" in, but if folks are serious about the tiny movement helping the planet, you gotta get the biggest consumers involved too.

The 2 factors in my decision is having a " Gooseneck " trailer for the foundation, and your designing the kitchen area to open with the sliding windows & doors, onto a outside deck. After removing & storing your deck a few times, I bet you said to yourself "" why didn't I inset this section so the deck could have folded up to the side of the trailer "". None the less, you have shown excellent engineering skills !!
