This man is definitely one of my idols to this very day, what people didn't emphasize about Mahmoud is that he didn't want to stand for something he felt didn't stand for him and people like him, especially black men and women. No, even in 2023, the US is TRULY NOT the land of the free and the home of the brave. Yes, he was an incredible basketball player, but that pales in comparison to the quality of man he was and still is. Much love, Mahmoud, all praise be to Allah. Continue to be the progressive individual you are, the struggle continues, it's far from over.

I used to collect basketball cards as a kid in the 90s. Before the internet, there was hardly any news here in Germany about the NBA and I remember holding a Denver Nuggets Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf card in my hands. As a child of Turkish immigrants in Germany, I was amazed that there were Black Americans with muslim names like mine in the Be-like-Mike era (aside from Muhammad Ali). That basketball card was the reason why I started looking into the history of Black Americans (Especially their cultural emancipation from "White America") and still do to this day. I am so happy to see that this Man gets his flowers now. Such an inspirational Person!

So happy that he is finally getting his just due. I was a kid when they suspended Abdul-Rauf and i was completely disgusted at how the players didnt stand & support him. The entire NBA shouldve supported him and that madness couldve been stopped.

Salute to Mahmoud !! Once I seen his name in the title I instantly clicked onto the video !! Several memories of em when I was a teen !!! Calvin Murphy touching the ball before he attempted to shoot the free throw !! To be able to control his disorder while playing !!! Not standing for the national anthem !!!! And changing his name to Mahmoud Abdul rauf !!!

This was engaging. I don't really know of Mahmoud. First time I ever heard of him was actually in the Big 3, but I was curious. I thought I was gonna have this on as background noise, but I ended up glued to the screen taking in all the words for every minute. Shoutout to everybody involved with this one!

I can’t say enough about Mr Mohmoud Abdul-Rauf. I grew up watching and paying attention to him because of his strength off the court. He’s a hero to many and a leader of men. I’m glad he’s finally getting the proper respect and praise that he deserves.

It was mind popping what he brought to basketball when he hit college. The double crossover and pull up after passing half court, he did that every game. The Steph before Steph chatter is 100% accurate, difference being Mahmoud pulled up off the dribble more so than coming off screens.. I loved the Stand doc though, because his experience was finally brought to the screen and I had totally forgot how he brought awareness to tourettes. Flowers well overdue. Thanks fellas!

I think it was 98, he was playin for Turkish team with Conrod Mcrae vs Zalgiris, Lithuanian club... back then it was 2 times, 20minutes.... in first 3 minutes Mahmoud scored 20pts, during those 3minutes coach asked for a time out twice...

Alhamdulilah ❤ for Mahmoud Abdul Rauf. Im from Lebron generation but we will always be proud of the exceptional NBA basketball player Mahmoud he was the only guy that could crossover and shoot on Jordan and score each time. With all his adversities...he truly is a goat.

Damn. Always looked up to this man - but to hear the insights on living with Tourettes and what that did to his practice habits...just...Damn. This man deserves his flowers for everything he has been through, the way he did it, the way he carried himself through it all with dignity, respect, professionalism. A role model if there ever was one. Best interview I've seen on ATS. Gold content.

Man you could tell everything is from the heart with this guy! Absolutely loved this interview, imagine a black man in the 90s doing a silent protest to then be turned into a national villain without being able to put out a statement like people do this day and age. Must have such a sore back for walking around with such heavy balls.
