@@theracingline6999 the range is already pretty good, but imagine charging in 10 minute's instead of 30-40 minutes! Gas cars take a little less than that long (maybe 5 minutes to fill the tank and another 3 for paying) it would greatly help Electric Vehicles to catch on with the general public.
@VachicorneOld
@VachicorneOld 4 роки тому
@@ShadowVipers The range is a thing, but the energy density is much more important, for now, it is just a "lithium battery + graphene", and the energy density does not seem to be improved, which is an issue since it would allow to have much smaller (and thus much lighter) batteries. Having a battery that charges 3 times faster is cool, but not a game changer. Great video! I just wanted to say that the whole 2 layers of graphene being bullet proof thing is incorrect. Researchers fired a microbullet(1 micron in diameter) at 2 layers and the layers disintegrated, a few years ago researched at Rice fired a microbullet at 300 layers and it fully stopped the bullet, but this is still with a microbullet. A full bullet might require 1 million layers, however, even at 1 million layers it would only be .34mm thick!

It also has a tensile strength of 130Gigapascals (or 130 billion), that is around 346x the tensile strength of Aramid- Kevlar. Joshua Beck The speed of charging isn’t a real issue as you usually charge your car at night. The trick of driving an EV is charging at your destination, not in between.

Oh nice, you found that grain of rice of truth in this bullshit. I know that this video is fake click bait only because I on pulse of news for new batteries technologies. And from that I know that batteries based on graphene is called ionistor or super-capacitor, and, actually I have one at home, but, based on charchoal, not graphene. Physicists have researched about this supercapasitors, and they have found that if you use the best possible technologies, physically, there is a CAP of how much energy you can store in 1 gramm of this battery(supercapacitor). And they have found that current technologies in Lithium batteries are much more perspective in future. Also there is tip of difference between supercapacitor and lithium battery. Battery stores energy by making chemical reaction with lithium, this reaction is reversable(when you charge or discharge your battery), this is why charging lithium needs time, cuz chemical reaction needs time, also, during this reaction some key elements do damage a little bit (Lithium grow in crystals) so after a lot of recharging cycles battery became broken. Super-capacitor is just an huuge space where you can place electrons, it's same as static electricity, like, when you pet your cat, or wearing synthetic t-shirt you can produce sparks. It's just because those spaces can carry a lot of electrons and discharge it in somthing, and here you have a spark. Same idea is in supercapacitor. It can charge and discharge instantly (capped by metall conductor), but there is a physical limit of energy it can store.

While graphene is definitely interesting stuff--there are related exciting materials also. For example, a Canadian researcher discovered that if you graphitize a cellulose material with a high content of crystalline cellulose (hemp, flax linen, ramie, etc) it becomes very highly conductive--as conductive as some lab created graphene samples and can store a lot of energy (especially in a super capacitor sense). He took some hemp fiber, soaked it in some water with potassium hydroxide and heated it up to around 800C (if I remember correctly) in a non oxygen environment. While I can't say with certainty, it seems to be a sort of carbon nanotube/graphene like combo. What's interesting is that one can fairly easily concentrate the crystalline cellulose. Hemp fibers for example, contain around 70% crystalline cellulose. You can easily concentrate that to around 95% content. If the former was quite conductive; just imagine how much the latter will be? Plus, it will also become nano sized when you put it through that process. One could built a super solar oven (as I'm doing), and have a source of free energy to convert these cellulostic materials into carbons and graphites. As far as a no oxygen atmosphere, you can can do a low oxygen atmosphere fairly easily, just by putting some paper and baking soda combo over the materials to be heated in a closed lid container (like a steel can). So if you can make a good amount of this stuff for relatively inexpensive, and create a super capacitor-battery hybrid, you could get pretty good energy density and charge time. This is what I'll be working on.

If ur Phone doesnt "Hold up" as it should, calibrate the battery if its an Android. You can do this easily with Root Priviliges, or the "longer way" with properly charging and discharging the phone 2 times. What you need to do for the long route: Discharge ur phone till it goes off. PowerCycle it as long as its possible, so the Battery is REALLY Empty, not just "fake Empty". If thats done and the phone bearly turns on, let it go off, wait 15 Seconds and plug it in. DON´T Turn it on, let it charge up in one go, till the display shows 100 Percent and wait an extra 15 or 20 Minutes to be sure. Turn ur phone on. Once its on and u put in your Pin, unplug the cable. Let it drain the Battery without recharging in between and do the same again. Android will calibrate the batterystats.bin correctly. If that doesnt work you may have a faulty part in ur phone, which leads to energy drain. Hope it helps.

We do want to be clear that this is graphene enhanced lithium. The whole purpose is to cut down on costs and bring graphene out of the labs to consumers. Graphene costs around $30,000 per kg. We have our own methods (similar to CVD) that makes it for much cheaper but still is quite expensive. Graphene is applied in 2 ways: -As nano platelets mixed in the lithium mixture -As sheet form on the electrodes which really sets us apart from current battery competitors. Graphene benefits the battery in 2 main ways (in layman's terms): -Conductivity of electricity helps with the charging speed as it helps the lithium accept this charge with much less resistance. -Conductivity of heat also helps dispersing the heat evenly across the battery instead of keeping it concentrated on any specific part of the battery increasing heat dissipation. Natural heat dissipation is a huge winner for battery performance. Sure there are solid state batteries that we can also replicate, but it isn't something that will leave the labs anytime soon. We want to emphasize bringing graphene to the consumers out of the labs for a consumer friendly cost. Feel free to ask us any questions you might have! We'll have our engineers tag team on questions as best as we can.

Now, how to get this technology into Musk's EVs?
@jmackinjersey1
@jmackinjersey1 4 роки тому
Adding 30% cost to a cell phone isn't really all that bd. Adding 30% increase to a vehicle that costs $30k and up is a huge addition to the price of the vehicles. Not quite cost effective at this point in time. But I'm sure in about ten years or so, when this tech is a lot less expensive, it will be implemented in the battery technology.
@alextwist8
@alextwist8 4 роки тому
@@jmackinjersey1 I'm sure people would be willing to pay the extra 9k. After all, the graphene battery would significantly improve the longevity of the car and also make the batteries run cooler. Right now Tesla's struggle with keeping the batteries cool under heavy loads.

Imagine having your car to be able to charge in 10 Minutes, and getting more than 500 miles per charge. Almost every car would be able to do 0-60 in 3 Seconds. This would be a combustion killer.

not unless the prices were the same as gas cars. EVs right now cost at least 3 times as much, getting a graphene upgrade would just make it even more expensive.
