Thanks a ton for this video! I've watched a few of your others as well, and watching your technique is a million times more useful than most advice I've ever been given.
@BruceSchaller7 років тому
I can't tell you how much I appreciate that you work using very straightforward techniques in clever ways. Other woodworking channels discuss how to support the woodworking industry. You discuss woodworking.

Mathias is a master, so much efficiency of storage space, materials, and crazy quality in everything you do. Keep up the great work!

what in woodworking is so therapeutic that feels so soothing, even if we are just watching it ?! that's really cool, Matthias! =)

I happened onto Matthias Wandel's videos last night while searching for some tool holder ideas on You Tube. What an incredible resource! He's a very talented, creative woodworking genius. Thank you so much for sharing your woodworking endeavors.
@robbrown6495Рік тому
Enjoyed the video. Functional without going overboard. As someone who is borderline OCD I admire your ability to line things up by eye and drill holes without worrying if they are half a degree out Most of all I love your total lack of respect for the health and safety nanny state. And you still have all your fingers!
@LutherBuilds9 років тому
Thank you so much for this video, Matthias! This is a very timely video for me, since I have been debating on whether to use some pegboard that I already have for my tools or homemade hangers and hooks. You just inspired me to not use pegboard. Now I just have to find a good use for all the pegboard that I have. Maybe a downdraft table.

the amount of free space in the drawers must be huge in the center area of the panel on the wall maybe a hand drill shelf you know a shelf for the bigger items

I did what u did about 20 months ago and it made a huge difference. I can see and grab tools easily. Before using pegboard I had to move tools to get to the tool. Another way is French cleet so u can move individual holders if need arises. Good skills I like your simple ways of making holders look up scale. I really like my pliers holder where bbn I have them from small to large instead of a drawer and had to shuffle stuff to find what I wanted. Have a friend retiring and building a shop and hope he sees these tool holders. With a new blank shop a guy could really lay stuff out to make life easier

Great job Matthias! Really inspires me to get out in my shop and do some spring cleaning :)
@rustythevibeguy8 років тому
I like that you are not overly "fussy" about things that really don't matter. Much of what you do here could be easily adapted to a pegboard system (for those who already have it installed) by using plastic drywall inserts in the holes and then screwing the 'holders' shown here to the pegboard,
@matthiaswandel8 років тому
+RustyCas Or I could just screw it on between the holes. In which case, a pegboard with no holes would actually be better, and if it were plywood with no holes, that would be even better. Which, coincidentally, is what I actually used.
@TheHarryroks6 років тому
Matthias how thick is the plywood?

I don't know why the high speed parts are so satisfying to watch, but they are. :) Thank you for the ideas, I'll be doing some variation of this very soon.

That set of tools on your 1/4 inch of wood was so cool
@corbywilson35535 років тому
The speed in which you accurately guesstimate the distances and spacing needed is extremely impressive and just a little disheartening.

Great video. For the past 40 years my tools have been in a VERY large tool box, it needed a fork lift to move it in and out of the panel van, fortunately it wasn't taken out all that often. Now I am retired and I just could not decide on a design and I didn't want to use a French cleat system. I'm going to adopt your idea. Simple, cheap (sort of) and a darn sight more pleasant on the eye. Thank Matthias

Cool! I recently made one for my tools. Box shaped and way smaller because I have not so many tools. To hang it I cut a long rectangular piece of wood diagonally and longitudinally and screwed one of the pieces to the wall with the sliding part sliding down towards the wall and the other to the box and then you can hung it . ^_^
