Been saying it all week. Hype train DERAILLLLLLLLLED. Absolute garbage, she was worse than I thought she'd be. Figured the striking would improve at least a little since the Santos fight but it's clear this little girl's ego didn't allow her to get any help. So gratifying after how big her ego got.

Blachfield is simply too small to tackle the physicality of Fiorot. If Fiorot was some lowly ranked, less skilled fighter, no problem... her size wouldn't have been much an issue (outside of a "lucky" kick or punch). But when you're talking about another elite but one much bigger, taller, and stronger than you... that's a problem, that's Erin's problem. Unless Erin's able or willing to put on 5-8 EXTRA pounds of solid muscles, to TONE her body to looking like Bruce Lee's early 1970s body choreography ---- if Lee could do it in the late 60s to early 70s, for movie shots, elite MMA athletes SHOULD be able to do it, too, in 2024 ---- she doesn't have the physicality to deal with the bigger, stronger, and taller women at 125... or is that 135?

@@kiabtoomlauj6249 This is a fair critique, the cardio is there but she will need to improve the strength if she wants to beat the top 3. The body lock TD just wasnt working and she never attempted a single leg or tried to trap any kicks, i think she will learn a lot from this fight.

I wouldn’t at all say she has a long way to go. She’s still top 10. She’s literally ran through the people she’s faced. It’s just Fiorot is on another level. Erin had that guillotine deep, let’s not pretend that didn’t happen . Blanchfield has to fix the holes in her game. She’s tough as nails though. I’m not even a big fan of either, it’s just Idk why ur trying to discredit someone who’s worked their ass off to get where they’re at. Show some respect. No need to add insult to injury. She only did one mistake during the fight (at the first round when she initiated the grappling and got an attempt of guillotine). She is very good!! Hope she got her title shot as soon as possible.

i still don't like Fiorot game plans. She basically dosn't do nothing, she only is bigger and longer and take distance doing counter strikes. She also is too old at this point, 34 years old means she will have a chance in a year from now. Against a champ you won't win for a decision unless you are very dominant. Grasso striking and footwork is something different.

Manon was highly technical and was being patient, keeping in mind it was 5 round fight. Why fix a thing if it’s not broken? Disagreed with commentators she should show more action. She unanimously won by out striking Blanchfied patiently. Future champ for sure.

Couple takeaways from this fight. 1. Erin's gottttt to clean up that striking. It was like night and day with her and manon in there. 2. Erins gotta work on those takedowns as well cause if shes stuck standing on the feet with a quality striker shes gonna get smoked. 3.ofc her corner/coaches know her mindset and what to say to her to get the best out of her but mannnnnnn in between rounds theyre saying stuff like "uhhh the fights close the fights close, nice work" etc. But yoooo!! How about we tell her not to try trading with her and focus on ways to work in some subs! But blanchfield's got heart, great conditioning too and hopefully learns from this loss. Can't say much about manon other then she looked phenomenal and won every round in my humble opinion. Only thing i wish she did was really go for that kill shot and put erin out

Among things for Blanchfield to work on you forgot: personality. People love Meatball Molly, and if you didn't already dislike Blanchfield before that fight, how she handled that win from a sportsmanship standpoint would really tip the scale. Best thing for the UFC happened tonight.

I wasnt surprise to see Manon have the edge in striking and i knew her size and strength would make her hard to take down but i am surprised that Erin couldnt take her down at all. I think she should have tried a single leg at least once in the fight. Props to Manon, and it also looks good for Rose, she will be a tough fight for the top 2.

Shevshenko vs Grasso is scheduled for mid september and UFC paris for the last week end of september. Doesn't make sense. If Fiorot wants a title shot for UFC Paris, she can go for the bantamweight title, since the division is empty ( they even gave a titleshot to Bueno Silva who lost to Fiorot earlier).

Her corner did not prepare Blanchfield with the right fight strategy, before or during the fight. Blanchfield ran her head into the jab all night. Did not kick Fiorot’s lead leg. Trying to manhandle a much stronger Fiorot. Telling her Fiorot was getting tired in the 2nd round, ridiculous. Shevchenko and Grasso are at a different level although Fiorot is a rock em sock em robot. Both were in shape though I’ll give them that.

Grasso is younger and has great footwork and she is one of the best striker in women mma. Shevchenko leg kick could do lot of damage on Fiorot. Btw at the moment they are the 3 best flyweight for sure

Namajunas last fight although she won was worrisome as her skills are not what they were. That perpetual fiance’ is not a trainer she needs to go back to Trevor Wittman. It is not dead. People were already discussing about how Erin will beat the champion. I was really surprised how people were already looking past Manon while I was one of the few people who really thought she would beat Erin. I wasn't expecting the 50-45 tho but I was thoroughly convinced that Manon would win. I was never really blown away by any of Erin's performance

I think it had less to do with lack of skill but more because manrot towers over these girls. She is always so much bigger than the rest of these girls so she just bullies them around and shucks them off her like nothing. She big sisters most of these girls by pure strength and size.

Everyone saying Erin needs to work on her striking and that is true but it was her wrestling that failed her here. If she can develope a solid single or double leg is space she wont need much striking. Her BJJ is legit in fact she almost subbed fiorot in their one actual grappling exchange...rather than try to learn an entire new skill set in striking she should instead work hard on her offensive wrestling

Biggest upset of the night IMO, blanchfield looked outclassed out there and her lack of urgency to try and get it to the ground didn’t help. Props to Fiorot though she looked way better in there

In this fight it was a good strat because she only gave Erin one opportunity to go to the mat, and Erin didnt make any real adjustments to overcome it.

How did the oddsmakers get this one so wrong? That looked like the worst matchup in the entire division for Erin. Outclassed by several levels on the feet and the sheer physicality of Manon canceled out whatever perceived grappling advantage (if any) that Erin had.

Sorry for my English, I'm a Frenchy 😅 Don't be too rude with Erin. That's the " fiorot " effect. She's rarely impressive but she neutralizes the skils of theirs oponents.. It's was the same against choukadian or Namajunas. She's always on ne move with his " in and out style" and it's very difficult to beat her, even more for a grapler who cannont catch her.. I'm aware that americains underestimated Manon fiorot and I can understand it. Erin is young and has un a grand potential. This not yet "blanchfield time" but don't worry she will get there. For the moment manon fiorot deserves a title shot.. Have au good day everyone.

the ufc really needs to stop making these women's main events. Blanchfield has virtually zero head movement, and Fiorot, who is supposedly this great striker, backs up in a straight line with eyes closed and chin high when someone punches at her. It's literally what people do in their first sparring session. She wouldn't even be considered a mediocre striker in the men's divisions. Keep in mind--this was a fight between the NUMBER 2 and NUMBER 3 fighters in the division

Very good job from Manon with good jabs, footwork, boxing backward, shifting hooks... As a frenchman I rooted for her but Blanchfield has shown heart. I think Erin could have got through punches and bothered Marion with close dirty boxing and then wrestling. She had the chin to take more risks. I can't understand coaches who play it safe when their fighter is late on the judge cards.

I like Manon but she should've have finished Blanchfield. She was hardly ever going forward in the fight just waiting for the counters. She needs a little more aggression. I think she will be champ though.

Manon will not beat Grasso. Manon has big holes in her boxing. Erin has amateur distance control, and literally strikes and moves like a 4 yo. Grasso is elite, actually. Manon is a tough matchup for her, but I still think Alexa can outbox her and squeeze out a 49-46 decision

That looked really easy. So what's next ? AG-VS3 is freezing the Fly Weight division and still will for the rest of the year. The wise thing to do obviously is an interim belt. Manon could take the winner of a Thug Rose/Macey Barber fight, which could be a fun fight too
