to realize that these are only the standardized variations (dialects that have been recorded into grammar books and are considered the language with the most prestige in a communitiy), meaning that there is so infinitely more linguistic variety out in the world is staggering!!! language is truly one of the most fascinating things in this world

@@parmindershah4484 "Persian" is the English word for Farsi. It's fine to call it either one. We don't call other languages Deutsche, Turkce, Zhongwen, Nihonjin, Hayeren, Svenska, etc. We call them German, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, Armenian, Swedish. It's not a crime to call the language Persian - signed, a Persian/Farsi speaker

​@@parmindershah4484 Ok great, in Farsi we call it Farsi too. Again, Persian is the English word for the language. In academic departments, they study "Persian literature." When you google "Farsi" the first Wikipedia page is for "Persian." No big deal though.

It's so amazing, even if I do not understand a single word, how as a European I can recognize some of these languages. At least the language families. I wish a video like this would exist with the languages of Africa. I guess I would completely fail, but I would probably learn something.

At 5:45 it is "INDIAN "punjabi news not pakistani because pakistani punjabi do not use gurumukhi script they use arabic script so the country is wrong however the language is correct.

Because Hokkien is spoken in southern Fujian and Taiwan, and Hakka is spoken in eastern Guangdong and Taiwan. You're prolly not from those areas.

I really don't know why you put the info of the language at the end of each footage. Do you want us to guess which language they're speaking? But then we don't get to properly perceive how it sounds like because we don't know what it is until the end....

@@Islam-1991 Why are you so butthurted? Our ancestors split up, a few went to the north and became kurds and the others went to the soutc and became persian. Our culture and history is very similar and so is our language. I like all Iranian tribes, that means I like kurdish people too. I never said that you are persian (we are related tho) but you're a Iranian tribe.

Ive been learning turkish for a few months now so its very familiar to me but back when i went to istanbul i didnt know any turkish but i decided to learn because it sounded so pretty to me. I think the newsanchor's delivery in this clip is very harsh but normal turkish does sound very soft

Malaysian here. At first glance, Turkish sounds very poetic and melodic. It's as if every word and sentence in Turkish is full of wisdom and knowledge. Because I am not familiar with Turkish, you could read me an instruction manual or a cooking recipe and it will sound poetic and touching to my ears.

​​@@arctos333 Oghuz is a branch and Selçuklu was an emperor. Of course it isn't called Oghuz or Selçuklu. It is the language of Turks and called Turkish. It sounds like 'oh, English should called "American"

I believe that there should be more than 44 languages in Asia. These are only the official languages in that region . There should be other minority languages in other tribes that may live in the country for example in Laos, Thailand etc....

There are way more than 44 languages, and the 44 chosen tongues here even include non-languages! Hokkien, Min, and Yue aren't languages, but dialect families of Chinese, for which standard is the only official dialect. Include 6 instances of Chinese, but not include languages like Tajik or Bengali. But it's just an amateur channel, so no real need to be too exact.
