Right. Fantasy was a success, but only has 69M. Shake It Off peaked at #2, but it only has 54M. The only major ones that have over 100M are One Sweet Day, We Belong Together, and AIWFCIY. I agree with you

The vocal layering in the final chorus is everything. She masterfully placed the intro hook, the pre-chorus, and the chorus on top of each other and they all complement each other perfectly. She might as well could have placed any of the two verses on it and the combination would still be flawless. They don't make intricately-made pop #1 hits like this anymore.

Yooooo. I’ve been a Mariah Stan since 1995, and Heartbreaker is one of my favorite songs by her. Like I’ve literally listened to this song thousands of times by now and have never realized the pre chorus was included in the final chorus as well. I can hear the obvious “gimme your loves,” but the “boy, if I Dos” are a lot more subtle, but they’re there. It’s crazy how I notice things like this in her songs many years after they come out. What other singer in popular music even comes close to her background vocals and how her vocals melt into her songs? Now I can’t stop playing this part on repeat. I feel like I’m rediscovering the song in some way. LOL Thanks!

Well, Mariah has a little bit of part in that, although she plays this Diva character along, we the fans know she is a very nice and kind person, but to the GP she comes across unbearable. Doing interviews while laying on a sofa and those things don't help her either. I feel like Twitter has helped to clean that image a little by her funny tweets but yeah, my opinion why.

Sora Pongpet she got better though. Check out her without you performance in China. Her voice in the first two shows was not okay but somehow it got better and better. Criticism made her stronger, I believe.

Same. Although I unfortunately can’t stand any of her music after 2004. First five albums are amazing! Butterfly and Rainbow are a nice smooth calm R&B fun albums and are an interesting cool change. Then albums like Glitter, Charmbracelet, and The Emancipation of Mimi of the early 2000s are the okay ones. But once the late 2000s started I realize I can’t stand her music from 11th E=MC² to 15th album Caution. But that’s just me and she has a 16th album coming out in 2022.

I was a freshman in high school when this song and album came out. My boyfriend at the time broke up with me for a junior, he to was a freshman. I remember cutting school on November 2, 1999 to catch the bus to Sam Goody at the time they opened to buy this album before it sold out. Yesterday this album turned 21 years old. Happy Anniversary Rainbow! 🌈 ❤

People can look at this song at face value and think it is a silly meaningless superficial song , but theyll completely miss at how incredibly difficult it is to sing from a vocal standpoint - the fluidity, the clarity of the belts, and runs . Her persona sometimes takes over her sheer talent that to non-fans, they miss the thing that makes her so incredible.
