The fact that Marina personified Electra Heart as the exaggerated satire of the person that Dr. Luke -(kesha rapist/producer)- was demanding her to become. She is amazing!

"Because I was working with such huge people, like Dr Luke, they weren't going to listen to what I had to say about production. It was more like: 'What's the successful sound right now?' "And really it's a shame for me to do that, because I'm not that type of artist. That was the gripe. It was nothing to do with the songs. I love the songs." She admits now that the brazenly bubblegum record was a compromise. "When you look a certain way, a commercial way, labels immediately think you should be making commercial music." She heeded the demands, but promoted the album in character as Electra Heart, "wearing a blonde wig and behaving like a cartoon". When the campaign wrapped up, she killed off Electra Heart ("with sleeping pills") and made a startling discovery. "I stopped touring after being on the road for four years… I wasn't desperate to succeed any more," she says. "I genuinely wasn't bothered.

I’m so grateful to say that I’ve had the pleasure of growing up with Marina’s music. The Family Jewels, Froot, and especially Electra Heart were so important to me back in high school. I seriously feel like I wouldn’t be the person I am today had I not listened to those albums. Marina is such an amazing artist, no words can even begin to describe how amazing she is. I love everything she stands for, using her platform to always spread important messages and such. I’m really glad to be seeing more and more people discovering and appreciating her!

Lowkey like this version better than the normal one tbh, maybe because seeing her perform it like this all these years later shows Marina has grown as an artist since the Electra Heart era? Like you can just see that, very visibly, she has matured as a singer, which is probably the best thing I have ever seen. I could not explain it to save my life but I just absolutely adore this and Marina in general
