Listening to this whilst mourning the relationship with my mother. I know this isn't the meaning for this song, but it's helping me grieve. Having one parent left who is a narcissist and unemotional is hard, even more so when you're moving to the other side of the country and she doesn't even try to come see you. This song is helping me work through some very necessary feelings I've had of a lost childhood and mother daughter relationship, whilst making a new life with my boyfriend who is everything I could ever need. honestly this album is making me feel better, it's like, she's showing us self-acceptance, self-respect, and self-love, and I love it.

The chorus kinda sounds like the chorus from Happy…I feel like I’m hearing a lot of melodic callbacks as well as spiritual successors to her older songs (the title track sounding like Mowgli’s Road, Venus Flytrap like a sequel to Oh No! and Hollywood). I actually cried listening to this. It reminds me of a friendship that didn’t work out whatsoever. Marina has a great way of expressing emotions that are hard to describe. I love this song so much. Flowers is one of my fave

I can't believe how perfectly this song sums up my experience in my last relationship. My partner definitely took me and our relationship for granted, not trying hard to change harmful aspects of their behaviour until far too late. I don't think they assumed I would leave either, but I finally did. We are friends now and I am grateful for that but in a lot of ways it felt like a one sided relationship where I was walking on eggshells, feeling very unappreciated. I wish I had heard this last year, it would have made me feel less alone in my decision making. To anyone going through a situation like this, it does get better, it does get easier and you can make the decision that feels best for yourself, as hard as that may be when you are (understandably) taking your partner's feelings into account.

When I listen to Man’s World, I thought this was so different and to a certain point good, but wasn’t very much my taste, even though I listen to it and enjoy it sometimes, Purge the Poison was a bit aggressive, it felt also a bit new and different and I sorta loved it, the title song (ancient dreams in modern land), the melodies was just not for me but I loved the message of the song, and Venus Fly Trap felt good but also different, I had so much mixed feelings about all the songs, so I was afraid the album may not be of great quality, and after I heard it... let me say Marina did not disappoint, I felt so connected to her songs, these songs felt so true and authentic, I can simply feel them and connect to them just like I connected with every song on FROOT, every song on this is self-written and beautifully done, Highly Emotional People, Pandora’s Box & Flowers are the songs I connected with the most, and I LOVE the other songs, it made me realize that probably Marina was pressured to make songs on L+F, for Marina, it shouldn’t be a job, I really hope she always take the time to write songs instead of writing and singing to release an album like she must, I love the art she does when she is truly herself, I connect to it, I feel it & I LOVE IT, thank you Marina for sharing this with us, hope you’re happy & healthy ❤️

I keep coming back to this one. It just perfectly describes how it feels to be in a relationship where you are the one giving and the other person doesn't even do the minimum (give flowers). It doesn't even have to be literal, "Flowers" can be replaced by anything, but at its core it just means Atention, if only you had paid some atention, maybe the relationship wouldn't had crumbled. (And it doesn't have to be strictly about a romantic relationship, its not what I think about when I listen to it personally).
