This tent is awesome, took it out to field school and didn't have any issues. Survived very hot weather to very stormy weather. Set up is incredibly easy and theres honestly tons of room inside, had all my gear pushed into the side where my head wasnt and still had tons of room.

Awesome review and a well thought out tent design. One thing I would have liked to have seen was setup/take down as well as packed size.

I just brought mine on its inaugural camping last weekend. So much space! Not only able to get all of my gear and sleeping gear, also plenty of space for my German Shepard/Husky to sleep in there with me! The light diffusion pockets work great with my small headlamp to light everything up! Overnight got to about 50 degrees, but stayed pretty warm with the rainfly blocking wind and trapping our heat. A bit heavy in my pack, but not overwhelming and well worth it for the comfort. Also, the double door opens beautifully - very smooth operation. I liked being able to have two sets of zipper pulls and position them throughout the door for if i want to be able to reach out while lying down or have the top portion of the double door flopped down while still having the bottom zipped (if that makes sense?) Very happy with my purchase.

I have owned this tent now for approximately 5 years. I have never had a problem with it. Several years ago my son and I were camping on Beaver lake, Arkansas and overnight a very heavy thunderstorm came over us. The rain was really strong, the wind was also. We woke up to heavy thunder and went right back to sleep. We woke up in the morning without a single drop of water inside the tent. The profile of tent with rainfly is perfect for heavy wind situations. We have also camped in colder weather with rain to similar results. GREAT TENT!!

I really like your reviews. You do a very good job. The only thing I would change is I would show the packed size and weight, and lay out everything steaks poles at all for us to see prior to the tent being up. It lets us know what we’re getting into. Also, for more accuracy since a lot of these manufacturers fudge a little on their numbers we just need to know the truth. Keep up the great work.
@Enwild5 років тому
Thanks! We do try to show packed size nowadays (we shot this video a few years ago). You can always find the specs of any products we demonstrate by clicking the link in the UKposts description. I like your idea about laying out stakes, etc. Will pass that one on! Cheers!

I love the giant window (feels less claustrophobic than the small, angled window on the Tungsten 1p) but I do not want something so big and heavy, and it seems Marmot only makes this 2p and 3p. Any other free-standing tent with similar, oversized windows, preferably in green olive or grey colors, such as the Tungsten? I don´t mind if it´s any other brand. Thanks

Fantastic review! I've watched so many of them, and people didn't always touch on a questions I still had. You did! Thank you! Now, if you could just do a comparison between the Limelight 2P and Tungsten 2P. The Tungsten, on paper, sounds a little better, but every comparison I've read online, ends by saying that if you don't mind the slightly higher price, get the Limelight. Anyhow, thank you so much for this video!
@Enwild2 роки тому
The Limelight is built with more dramatically prebent poles, which make higher vertical walls before arching. So the Limelight is more of a rectangular prism than the Tungsten which is more domed, so it has a little more interior volume. It does, however, weigh more.

Hi, It's really nice info about this tent for me who is just going to buy one if Mamot tent. Just concern is that breathable mesh won't hold much heat during winter season. Do you think that this tent can be used in extreme winter season when ambient temp is around 0 deg F ? If not, can you kindly recommend 4 season and 2p tent of Mamot ?
@Enwild5 років тому
Hey, thanks for watching! As far as using the Limelight 2P in winter weather, it really depends on what kind of weather you expect and what other kind of gear you have. If there won't be a lot of snowfall and you have a warm enough sleeping pad and bag, then the Limelight should work. The Thor 2P is Marmot's 4-season 2 person tent. Stay warm out there!

Hi. We wanted to go Torres del Pain (Patagonia) in january (summer), this tent work for me if we use a winter season sleeping bags?
@Enwild5 років тому
You can use a winter bag, but you might be hot during the summer. Also, if you need a tent for two people, you might want to consider a 3-person tent for the extra storage and living space. Have a great trip! If you have more questions, feel free to get in touch with our Gear Specialists 1-800-617-0643.
@jdmr0015 років тому
@@Enwild Thank you! :)
@andredeketeleastutecomplex4 роки тому
My guess would be a synthetic sleeping bag (-5 to -10°c) with a long zipper in the middle and something like a thermolite reactor extreme liner. When it gets cold (it does) you use the sleeping bag, on other nights you can use the liner while laying a bit softer on top of the sleeping bag. If you don't use the liner, it could be a pillow. Try to find double uses for gear if you use a backpack, you only have one back.

+Backcountry Edge What would you choose between this and the Nemo Galaxi 2?
@stevelahr60636 років тому
If I may. It is a hard comparison. The tents have such different materials & weights. This tent in my eyes smokes the Nemo due to durability and roominess. I have the 3P version of this tent & love it. Just make sure to stake out the ends or you may get condensation. On a nice night, ditch the fly & say hello to the stars! Hope this helps. Don't get me wrong, Nemo is doing good things. I have a Nemo Disco 15 sleeping bag & love it. I just don't like super lightweight tent materials. Maybe I need to try it, but I like protection from storms. To me, some tents don't offer enough protection for such. Happy camping!
@fathernomad5 років тому
Been debating between this and the MSR Elixir 2.
@Enwild5 років тому
The Elixir is a durable option for three season backpacking. It will hold up better in high winds due to its shape an sturdy pole structure. The Limelight 2P is more spacious and has larger doors for easy entry and exit. The overall space will feel a lot more open inside because of those "pre-bends" in the poles. If you are more of a fair weather camper, we'd recommend the Limelight. If you anticipate winds and storms, stick with the Elixir.

I love the look of this tent, but I'm confused about a couple of things. The Marmot website lists it as being narrower at one end. It gives the specs as 43 x 54 x 88in. But I've also seen it listed as rectangular: 54 x 88. Does anyone know the true dimensions? Also, I'm curious about the weight. The Limelight 2P is slightly heavier than some competing tents. However, it comes with an included footprint (groundsheet). Is the footprint included in the listed weight of 5 lbs 10 oz or is the footprint extra? Thanks very much if anyone can answer those questions.
@bassman22777 років тому
The 43" is how tall it is. It has a rectangular footprint.
@PlanetDoug7 років тому
Thanks for the information. I appreciate it. I tracked down some stats, and it looks like you're right. The 43" figure refers to the height.
@arttom98504 роки тому
@R K for one or two people and a german shepherd would you go with a 4P or 3p? For camping not worried about weight, and are can they be set up by one person? thanks
@Enwild4 роки тому
@@arttom9850 Hey, good question! We'd lean toward a 4P for the extra space. It won't be quite as easy, but this tent can definitely be set up by 1 person.

Is the dark gray material that comes up the sides of the tent about 8”-10” where it says Marmot Limelight 2p waterproof? Thank You!

This is an older version of the tent, but here's a link to the newer model: www.enwild.com/marmot-limelight-2p-2019.html. The material will be water-resistant, but not fully waterproof like the floor and fly

With half of the vestibule open will the inside of the tent get wet easily?
@Enwild5 років тому
If its raining/snowing/misty, we would definitely recommend keeping the vestibule closed to keep the interior dry.

Can this be used for 3 season purpose? Does it perform well on heavy rain?
@Enwild3 місяці тому
Absolutely! This tent is considered a 3-Season Backpacking Tent, and is fully seam-taped and waterproofed for rain performance.
@davidblakeman14966 років тому
Anyone have any insight on its ability to withstand windy conditions? Not like 4-season weather, but pretty darn windy weather? I know that is quite subjective, but any answer is better than nothing lol. Thx in advance!
@a_legitimate_salvage5 років тому
I've had this tent for about 2 years now and it holds up quite well against wind and rain even without the extra guylines. It's one the heavy side for a backpacking tent but for a 3 or 4 day trip it's perfect.
@andredeketeleastutecomplex4 роки тому
I can not stress enough that people always need to secure a tent fully using all pegs and guylines. In the incidental case that your tent wants to play kite at night because of a sudden gust of wind/violent downpore while you were sleeping. Don't trust any weather report/self judgement for securing your tent or not, just do it and then keep snorring when sleeping. Have you ever ran around at night in your underwear trying to retrieve a fly while all your stuff gets wet/blown away? You don't want/need that, secure it first. Your comfort depends on it, and that comfort in turn enables you to stand cold/wet/wind for extensive periods. Better safe than sorry. Stay safe.
@makattak887 років тому
How do I use the footprint with the tent set up?
@andredeketeleastutecomplex4 роки тому
First the footprint, than the inner-tent with poles, attach to footprint, put fly on, secure. You can also use it without inner-tent, but the specs don't mention it. You can clip in the inner-tent afterwards, that also helps to keep inner-tent dry when setting it up in rainy conditions. Maybe watch other reviews on YT as well, this channel is a bit sleepy to get all answers 😉
@vampov4 роки тому
I read an interesting article by a bear specialist and he said to avoid bears coming to your camp don't buy bright colors like what the tent manufacturers are doing (orange, red, ect) he said go with darker colors that match the surround environment so the bear won't come and checkout the cool new object in his forest.
@Oculus7296 років тому
Making more elbow room means the poles have a funny, atypical bend in them when you pack the poles, right?
@Enwild6 років тому
The poles will be just a bit more bulky when they're collapsed, but they still pack down into a fairly small stuff sack. One of the trade-offs for the amount of space you get with this tent is a slightly larger packed size. Cheers!

Can you fit Exped SynMat Duo LW in there?
@Enwild2 роки тому
The Limelight 2P has a footprint measuring 54" x 88" at its full/staked out dimensions, so it should be able to accommodate an Exped SynMat Duo LW measuring 77.6" x 51"
@eddiemercury67812 роки тому
@@Enwild Okay, thanks. So is the inner width smaller when it’s not staked out? And staking streches it?
@Enwild2 роки тому
Hi Eddie, sometimes when not staked out, the tent's material and pole tension will pull the dimensions in slightly, making it a bit smaller. We'd caution you not to stake it so tight that it "stretches", but simply to hold it out at it's fullest dimensions. Staking a tent too tightly can cause undue stress on the materials, zippers, and other connectors, which may cause damage.

Limelight vs tungsten ?
@Enwild6 років тому
For car camping or basecamping, the Limelight will provide a lot more space inside and the doors are huge, so entering and exiting is a breeze! The Tungsten tents are lighter weight and more packable. So if you will primarily use it for backpacking, go with the Tungsten.

This thing is not a Limelight, polyester floor rather than nylon, a poor mesh layout, no double clips, no included gear loft, and it is heavier than the old Limelight. Not a happy camper about this thing :(
@bdtown18 років тому
+Straw Boss I think you might want to give this one a shot. I designed this tent, and while it is a half pound more, there is a ton of space. You can actually fit 2 people inside, and very comfortably. The old LL2 had 1 door only, and this has 2 doors. We calculated it out, and this tent actually has *more* internal volume than the old Limelight 3P. Not a typo, it's roomier than the outgoing 3P. Compared to that tent, you end up more than a pound and a half *lighter*. Our polyester floors have proven just as strong as the Nylon ones in our testing, and more resistant to UV damage. They've been on products for the past few years. The mesh is debatable - there are many people who want a warmer tent, or cooler tent, but most people really enjoy the mesh top so you can stargaze. Compared to the double clips, these new clips are much more comfortable to use and are so easy. Honestly, the double clips didn't do much for the old tent except add weight. Personal preference though. TL:DR - I'd highly recommend the Tungsten 2P if you're more concerned about weight, or even the Catalyst 2P. Both of those tents are much roomier than the old LL2, have 2 doors instead of 1, and are less expensive. If you want to live like a king in the backcountry and are willing to carry an extra half pound, get the LL2. Out of the hundreds of products I've designed for NEMO and for Marmot in the past 8 years, this is one of the top 5 that I'm most proud of.
@magdakolybacz94108 років тому
+B Davey So is it possible to fit full-size mattress inside this tent? According to the size they both are 54in wide.
@bdtown18 років тому
+Magda Kolybacz - You're right, the new limelight has a footprint of 88 x 54. At the 12" mark (about where the dark grey meets the light grey), the dimensions are 82 x 49, which is a little narrower than a traditional full mattress. The tent walls are very vertical as you can see, so there's quite a bit of space. You could potentially put it in and it would "stretch" the tent a little on the door areas, but not too bad.
@scottr82207 років тому
not really. I can fit two 25 inch wide inflatable sleeping pads and they pretty much take up all the width across the tent.
@johnsmitty74477 років тому
i like the squared walls and the double doors on this one, i own the old limelight 2p and its great, but not perfect, the only negative thing about this one is the extra weight... i have also had rain come under the fly and through the low mesh in a bad storm, looks like this one will prevent that
