We got very remote and isolated places right here on Earth with no human presence or settlements at all 🌏🌎🌍 making those places more human livelihood like, I think would be way easier and cheaper than just trying to colonize something that is totally dead 🌑🌑🌑

It fascinates me that while we are destroying Earth's biosphere we are actively seeking the next planet to destroy, or maybe in the case of Mars we are trying to understand why this planet can no longer sustain life, if ever there was any. I think the reason for going is so they can find rare elements and or the discovery of something to use as a weapon.

Fun facts: Mars is the most explored planet in the Solar System, other than Earth. Mars will most likely be the next target for manned missions. Excluding Earth, Mars has the most hospitable weather in the Solar System, where temperatures in the Summer can reach a nice 35 degrees celsius. Mars has the largest dust storms, which can even cover the whole planet.

Babur Absamatov human population in world is now increasing day by day and it might be possible we may again fight for food so in order to maintain humanity in global scale or galatic or now interplanetary scale so what's the wrong in it because we still are zero form of civilization means we still cut down trees for fuel but this mission paved a way of first form of civilization means interplanetary form of living in universe and then we might go from this galaxy or universe and settle in different universe which will pave 3rd form of civilization means interglactic and interuniverse or multiuniverse civilization so rather livivng here we should now give rest to Earth and explore some more areas of universe

Our presence on earth is nothing but just an insignificant presence for a very short while, compared to earth's existence itself. We are at phase where the planet is now hospitable to living things. It is not impossible that we will reach the phase where earth will be like mars. Extreme temperatures, dead volcanoes, and dried up seas. By then we would have realized that perhaps plastic wasn't such a big a of problem as compared to what earth has in stored for us. Thanks for sharing National Geographic.

Mars lost most of its atmosphere when it was captured like a comet by the Sun. We know Mars is a captured planet because its axial tilt doesn't match closely with the axial tilt of the Sun, it matches closely with Saturn's axial tilt so Mars was likely orbiting Saturn when it was earth-like, when Saturn was a dwarf star before it was captured by the Sun and lost its mass.

I think the key to humanity's survival comes from finding an earthlike planet within 10 light years, and the ability to travel at around 6%+ the speed of light, which is currently theoretically achievable. I think something more significant happened on the inner planets around the same time and that's why they're all so different yet so similar. If the Earth's Dinosaurs (and most of life in general) went thru a huge shift, and the geology of Mars stopped around the same time whats to say something didnt happen on Venus that helped it get where it is today? Say a small asteroid came thru the inner Solar System, broke up, and collided with the inner planets changing them forever? The most affected planet being Venus where the interaction lead to a backwards rotation and extensive global volcanism. Truth is we can't truly and accurately know what happened way back then; Its fun to hypothesis.

There are some serious challenges to convert Mars into a habitable planet for humans. There are chemical and biological obstacles related to soil, water and atmosphere. There is no magnetosphere to speak of which will make anything other than subterranean settlements dangerous. Any such settlements would also probably have to be located near the poles. If we can answer the chemical, biological other daunting questions, we are still talking centuries. Which is okay as long as we do not 'muck' up Earth in the interim. Take care...be safe!

Since Mars had water billions of years ago, we humans might be descendant of Mars people that has escaped from it's apocalyptic stage. that's why we have a blur theory of evolution.

I had an interesting notion about Mars. I suspect most of it's oceans sank into the planet as it cooled and didn't boil away into space. But there must have been a period of water bodies freezing on the surface and glaciation while the atmosphere could still support water precipitation. Imagine Earth's oceans freezing solids but still leaving the land masses exposed. Over millennia dust from the land would build up over the oceans until they became plains of sand or dust dunes. You could easily mistake an ocean covered with dunes for a landmass. Could we be seeing this in some places on Mars? Large bodies of water that look like land because they are covered with a fairly thick layer of dust? The same would go for glaciers. Looking at images of the floor of Hellas Basin parts of it resembles Arctic and Antarctic oceanic ice with ridges, mostly in the northwest part of the basin. The rest of most of the floor looks kind of like perhaps a large glacier that flowed in from channels to east northeast of the basin. Of the radar surveys done of Mars would any be able to penetrate a thick dust and sand layer to see such large bodies of ice on or very near the surface? As Mars cooled some surface water should have solidified enough to resist boiling off in the thinning atmosphere. There may well be plentiful, although likely salty, water just below thin layers of dust and sand on Mars.

I'm pretty sure if the Mars exploit has been made available to the general public, many of those people would not understand the risk involved. Solar storms, weather, extreme extreme cold, lack of water, lack of food, lack of resources and tools. These would cause some serious problems. It would be many times easier for someone to tell you to go live in an iglu for the rest of your life, than to be an untrained "adventurer" charting land that is roughly 1000 times more difficult to navigate and develop than the coldest and wettest parts of Alaska.

but if we can terraform from planting trees melting the poles for water and making atmosphere with things we need it can be earth because we too were against of oxygen but then evolution came and now we are able to take oxygen so it might be so that Mars atmosphere conditions might evolve like that which can make this more like Earth

Hey I am thinking an thought experiment so please ccoperate with me is this possible that the grandfather paradox is solved and it's prove the existence of parallel universe and also discover the way to transport past through wormhole or black hole so is this possible that what we today hear incident of aliens might be true as what we are thinking of grandfather paradox as it is need to prove how he is able to stay and kill grandfather as his grandfather is alive. So if grandfather paradox proves existence of parallel universe so it might be what is real we might terraform different planets to have more numbers of Humans and other organisms in universe so it is possible to think to that grand father paradox is a way to start a new way to think and make sake of humanity. guys comment on me what you think but avoid to give stupid answers as this will kill curiousity !!!! ^_^
