That is so dumb... DOTD award should be decided based on who's the best driver of the day, not for random reasons like that. Grosjean getting DOTD in his last race too when it lasted all of one lap was dumb too. Makes the whole concept of this "award" rather meaningless.

Horner said Max didn't brake test Lewis. He did. Horner said Lewis went deep and off too. It was Max going straight on that stopped Lewis taking the corner, he would have stayed on track if not for that. I understand opinions, but denying facts?

Their is still a difference between brake testing and going even slower after they both went slower and slower. It was also strange that Hamilton didn't blast by after the first slowing down of Verstappen. But instead he just slowed down the same way Max did.

I feel like we have gotten too much too soon. We have had years of Mercedes dominance and suddenly we have a championship so tight the two protagonists are tied for points for the final round (something which hasn’t happened since 1974) and it seems to drive people into toxicity.

Get frustrated that Horner makes out they have had the inferior car all year. Simply not true. Mercedes clearly have more straight line speed but Red Bull have more downforce so are faster through the corners. This is how they’ve set there cars up. It suits different tracks so some tracks each have had the faster car. Evens out over the season so whoever wins deserves it in my opinion. Best of luck to both of them on Sunday. Best season in years!!!!!!!

The RB was only faster (race pace) in Monaco, Baku, Austria, Mexico and kinda Zandvoort. France, USA and Bahrain were equal and won on strategies but everywhere else Mercedes was faster. So its dishonest to say Mercedes isn't the overall better car this season when they are outright faster on 10+ circuits.

Horner's comparison between Hamilton/Bottas and Verstappen/Perez is laughable. Bottas has been with Mercedes for five years, whereas Perez joined Red Bull at the start of the season, jumping into what has been a cursed second seat. And yet the points gap between them is not exactly massive.

Yeah the whole points by Horner were logical fallacies. Perez has never been a qualifier like Bottas. Ocon dominated him in quali. So did Hulk. His strength is in his ability to nurse them tyres. He has had more DNFs as well (including here in Saudi). Yet he is so close to Bottas's point total. I think Bottas is mighty overrated as a qualifier. The man is rapid on a single lap & so consistent. That's why he's been into Q3 all the time as Mercedes pilot.

The DRS overtake is illegal, case in point Hamilton vs Raikonnen Spa 2008 when he was demoted 1st to 3rd. Max overdrove and has always been over the edge and should've been collared by the stewards since Brazil.

Christian talks about how great Bottas is doing compared to Lewis. That's cause he's in his 5th year at Mercedes. Go back and look at Bottas 1st year. He was like 5th in driver's standing while Lewis was winning it all. That car is not as easy to drive as they make it seem. Max, Lewis and probably Charles are head and shoulders above everyone else.

There has been NOBODY, I repeat NOBODY that has actually proven that low rake cars got hit harder by the rule change. Guys like you just repeat whatever nonsense you have heard from other people. Truth is that RB have made a better job over the winter to improve their car to a point where they can actually challenge Mercedes. Futhermore even with the floor changes Mercedes have had the faster car on average this season anyway.

Christian Horner is actually very confused with the way he talks about max no way he says that Lewis only can drive on the straights and anyone can do that if that’s the case max crashed on the easiest section of the track. What planet is Coulthard on.....planet redbull. Lewis drove into the back of Max??!! Max put 2.4g's of deceleration through the brake pedal. To put that into perspective, that's twice what a road car can do in an emergency stop, not sure why you would do that when you know another f1 car is close behind.

Lewis had more than enough time and space to pass him, it was thanks to the FIA, yes Max is also partially to blame due to breaking too hard just so he could have Hamilton pass before the DRS zone, however if the FIA had told both teams that Max had to let Hamilton through at the same time this incident would not have happened.

Dc has been on max camp for a while I used to watch the channke 4 highlights after watching the sky coverage. Just to hear dc views He has ashamed himself when he said Brazil it was a racing incident And now in saudi He is negotiating a tv f1 show with the Dutch networks maybe thats why I've liked DC but he has favoured max and let his antics. Also when gasly moved over for max dc tried to explain that by saying bottas does it for hamilton? I was so baffled bottas is his team mate Gasly isn't Max's team mate. I feel like you guys just filled space with interviews rather than address any of the issues and concerns that brewed up over the race weekend at the Saudi GP... bit of a letdown, but I guess you can't be critical of your employer in a public way... That race was a mess and Masi should be replaced for next year with someone with the force of personality to tell the team bosses how its gonna be. This "let's make a deal" bs at the "pinnacle of motorsport" is pathetic and the drop in the quality of racing and team behavior this year are directly tied to the FIA's inability to govern its sport with any sort of consistency.

The immaturity is that Max knew his tyres wouldn’t make it, the pressure Lewis was giving Max saw to his tyres fading. However, Max should have let Lewis pass, he would have maintained a gap to Ocon and pit for the fastest lap. Max would be one point a head. RB are not fighting smart.

I honestly think Max could have won it if he kept a cool head and RB stuck with keeping him on the hards. I don't think I've ever seen such a poor performance, but it must be immense pressure playing chess against a 7X world champion. It really showed in this one. Sir Lewis was on a mission in this one, and he came out on top in epic fashion.

@@gseric4721 Nah mate, Lewis would have won this race regardless. Taking the risk of putting Max on the medium tyre was the only way Max would've threatened Lewis. But even when they were supposed to give him an advantage Max was only faster in the first sector and the rest of the track the Mercedes was faster. Even when Lewis dropped half a second here and there due to traffic and such he made that up in a couple of corners. And as the mediums dropped off Max became a sitting duck and defended like a sitting duck (ehh fighting like his life depended on it😅) tbh I'm scared that we won't quite get the battle finale Ham Ver because Abu Dhabi has become a power circuit with the rebuilds. Even Horner wasn't oppertunistic about their chances. But I can't predict the future obviously

@@ajw1045 I don't know. I don't think the mediums suited anybody on their second stints. I still feel like Max could have pulled away(Max just being Max) on the hards if he kept a cool head in the race. He was definitely feeling the pressure, and this could have possibly led to him overdriving the car on a circuit that already wasn't treating the RB very well in terms of tyre deg. I think a cool-headed Max on the hards could have won it, but we'll see where Max is mentally heading to Abu Dhabi.

Russel will be 0.1 seconds slower than Lewis, the season average. You have to see how Lewis drives, wing which broke off after colliding with max in saudi was causing the car to understeer, but you have to see how he changed his driving to accommodate it.

No, Masi made the right call there. Referring the incident to the stewards would have caused them to line up on the grid in the order they boxed in for the second red flag (Max P1, Ocon P2, Ham P3). Then the stewards would have had to come up with a ruling and/or a penalty for max when it was all said and done. To me, this was the cleanest way they could have handled it, as the situation was very unusual. The offer he made was exactly what the right order was. Nobody objected to it, and you know something is fair when both RBR and Merc agree on something lol

that is right, negotiating punishment for breaking the rules, amazing. Max still has the leaverage to crash; he would be the champion but again he does not need to do that. Win the race clear and square. Max pushed the crash in Brazil and Saudi Arabia but Lewis knows better; it is called Experience.

I think inconsistency is the problem. I would prefer when possible incidents to be open on the radio and determining a fair resolution. Instead of fia investigating and announcing 3 laps later someone is penalized and it’s all done in secrecy. Horner agreed to the punishment because it was fair to give the position back. However I do agree you can’t use this method once only

I am a Max fan, but DC was pretty biased. I can appreciate the enthusiasm, a feeling I share, but I’ve learned over this season that being objective is better. Both racers are giving us the battle of the decade and we’re seeing what I can only think of as the “passing of the torch” whether or not Max wins in Abu Dhabi. Been an exciting season, hoping for the best!
