I feel this song because it’s about standing up for yourself and not letting anyone and anything destroy your self-esteem. With the chorus “Don’t battle with my larynx tonight” emphasises the importance of protecting one’s voice and not letting others dominate it. This song also criticises those who talk without thinking which is suggesting that they are superficial and they lack substance. From my thoughts, this song sounds like it’s written about 2 different conflict styles - one person who yells a bunch of nothing loudly and tries to intimidate, whilst the other is calm and concisely use their words and wit to prove their point. 🤍🕯️

She knows their words are uselessly round and will never affect her. Her words are calculated by comparison; and knowing their egocentric behavior, they are sure to be easily wounded. I love this because it's so relatable. It's easy to hear entitled statements from a lot of people you know, and it's annoying oftentimes.

the twirls that her voice has within the song is out of this world. its s captivating! it teleports you into this galactic garden of death, romance ( and by romance i mean, a personal romance. like knowing your darkest areas and taking a dance with them ) heartbreaks , and the knowing of who you were, are and will be. :)

This song, when it was released, was the best thing that happened to me. During that time, I was facing intense bullying at school and couldn't say anything. Three boys started to harass me, engaging in cyberbullying, stealing my belongings, pulling my hair during classes, and saying hurtful things, like calling me schizophrenic. I was just letting things slide until one day I reached my limit. This song helped me a lot to be able to tell my family and school what was happening, and fortunately, I changed schools. Melanie, you are much more than a singer; you are a feeling. ❤
