Manchester United and Cadbury are icons of British culture, and have generated countless cultural reference points over the years. Cultural reference points can be really powerful ways to spark memories of the past, particularly for those who have trouble remembering them.
As part of Cadbury's 200th Anniversary celebration, we're teaming up with them and their partner, Alzheimer's Research UK, to show the power of creating, sharing, and preserving memories.
This is the story of Sean and Digger, two cherished fans that relish in the opportunity to attend our regular Reminiscence Sessions.

The year 2000... My father watched Manchester United football with me... I was just five years old.... Now 29.... It's been Manchester United... The downs... The lows.... The football this season.... My late father was a hardcore Manchester United fan, he introduced me to the game of football, and I became a fan since 1999. Watching this video reminds me of my old man, and I'm proud to be a Manchester United fan. I hope United will rise again to the top where we belong. Right now we're stuck in the mud but I hope it won't be long, long live United.

Our players, coaching staff and everyone who works at the club in any capacity, should understand the connection of fans to the club. Hearing stories of all these fans from older generations, you get a real sense of how much Man United means to them. Not saying the younger fans don't matter. But when you hear stories of multi-generations fans, you realise how special Man United is. Every player should understand and be reminded of the privilege of being a Man United player. That's why it sucks seeing players who don't get it and don't give a toss.

I feel like this most days when I watch United play wondering when it was that I last saw the whole team play well. Then I struggle to work out how long it's been since United won the title. At the end I'm left wondering - This can't be Manchester United playing - can it?
