Of all the reviews I’ve watched, this is the one where the look of the boots improved the most from the addition of SR4U laces. They would look even better if the stripes and the Messi logo were also blue. Hopefully we’ll get some alternative colorways soon.

That would be my best guess. Split soles always use more material/layers, so I can only assume that the added weight comes from that design choice.
