Awesome gravesite find. I googled their names and read their obituaries. Found out that was their 1st home after getting married and both was awesome people. Bob was a marine in Korea and Laura was a hell of a cook. Couldn't help but leave a comment on their Legacy page. Cool video.

I have to say when you showed respect for the landowners and said you would clean them off and them blessed is the most awesome sight to see, it gives me hope that humanity does have a fighting chance and that my 22 years serving the country wasn't in vain, thank you for being human, and I hope to meet you some time as I am moving to Alaska and have toys like dual sports and other fun ATV's of all sizes and a couple of tanks and military equipment, basically real Tonka toys.

Alaska , wow you are living a dream I've had my whole life. Ever since I was a kid I've wanted to live in Alaska. As it happened it didn't turn out that way but I still love seeing videos from there. Judging from your fines and the furniture left it appears to have been abandoned in the late 60a or early 70s and from the method of building my guess would be it was built in the 40s or so. Very cool, never stop exploring. Also, you can get maps and coordinates to old mining claims that individuals filed and then search those places.

I also detected at an old home site in West Virginia that was said to have a stash of coins buried in to property. All I found was a bunch of nails and the remains of the ten roof that was all over the property. It’s hard to look at old homesteads so much trash. But I believe the trasher is still there just can’t find it.

Wow, that brought back memories I used to live in the Alaska. From 1970 until 1973 and that was when the Pipeline was going through. Delta Junction Which is 100 miles from Fairbanks. And I didn't live in that town. I lived on the base. Fort Greely and I loved it up there. I wish I had a metal Detective. I remember going gold panning with some neighbors of mine I found a little bit of gold. I remember they gave me three tiny little flakes. And I had them. For many years I don't know what happened to them. Anyway My dad was stationed. At Fort Lee, Virginia there me and my buddy. Would go running around in the woods. And I remember seeing a bunch of these little holes in all these trees. Until one day I took a knife. And I want to know. What was in those holes? I dug out. A piece of metal and then I would find those little balls of metal all over. The place found out they were muskets from the Civil War I don't know what happened to those. It would probably be worth something now. But anyway, they're gone. I don't know where it happened to them. I wish I had a metal detector then I probably have a whole bunch of them. Anyway, thank you for your videos. It's great. I love them.

I don’t think it was a gold rush cabin. I think it was a weekend getaway for that family, and they were there much more recently than the gold rush. I read the lady’s obituary, and she must have lived in Fairbanks since she worked there. Remote cabins are often subjected to break-ins and theft, so the owners tend to outfit them with used furniture and don’t leave anything of value there. The real treasure of places like that are the memories of good times with their kids and each other.

The best thing about (some parts) of the US, being able to have that sidearm for personal protection. Never take it for granted. I’d prefer 10MM or .44 Mag for Brown Bear threat, 45 ACP might be a bit lacking.

Listen bro he went walking through one area there where the earth kind of enveloped him and the first thing I could think was if a bear or cugar or something decided to walk around at the same time as me I probably wouldn't have enough time to pull my gun out haha. I thought maybe it would be safer to walk through with hte gun out already because you know you only live once man. I rode a 4wheeler around in some rough desert for a while and I never brought a gun once. Never saw anything I deemed a threat beyond maybe the occasional snake. I saw many small animal tracks so I knew where there was small animals their was bigger ones. Years later I went camping and brought a gun and I heard wolves. We know wolves exist because we saw one outside the backyard one time. What eats wolves? Something bigger. The deeper in you go the more you realise you'll need a bigger gun and you might have to actually get ready to use it. To think how far back in I went on that 4 wheeler had I broke down and not had a gun and got stuck overnight. If I was in an area more likely to have bears I'd carry something bigger and with more bullets than what I've always brought out there. I was thinking about getting into metal detecting and some of these metal detectors sound like baby wild animals 😳

you have to be careful in those old homes, some have old wells that were covered with boards that would now be rotten. My husband almost fell down a deep well, but caught himself and his friend had to pull him up. If he was alone, he would have fallen in eventually, and I didn't know where he was, so he would have died, because it was out away from anything or anyone.

This video was awesome Keith. I used to live in Fairbanks as a kid in the 60's. There used to be so much cool old stuff and old cabins everywhere. I lived for a few years on Fort Wainwright. There has got to be many old silver coins out there around the old theatre and PX and officer and family living quarters. I went to McKinley elementary school on base in the early 60's and it was old then. After Fort Wainwright my dad bought a lot in Hamilton Acres and I was lucky enough to live just a couple blocks from Nordale Elementary school. I know the old Nordale was torn down. Must be lots of coins underneath all that concrete and asphault.
