The Nashville Railway button that was found is actually post-Civil War but is still a great find. It began in 1866 with mule drawn Trolley cars. In 1889 they started transitioning over to Electric Streetcars. By the early 1890's they covered 52 miles in Nashville with an 18-line system. With the introduction of automobiles, the Nashville Railway slowly became a thing of the past. It was completely gone around the 1940's. I grew up in Nashville and have metal detected there for nearly 35 years.

I just want to thank you for that little comment you said to your wife about the toothpick on the coin. I recently found an 1899 Indian Head Cent that was so crusty barely could see it. That toothpick worked magic. And doesn't take off patina or scratch it!❤❤❤❤❤

Daisy, you were starting to get me worried! I thought you were going to pass out trying to get that signal! But at least its comforting to know that if you do have any problems with your scuba gear. You can surface without it. You guys did the river a great service cleaning up all that lead. Thanks from all us outdoor lovers.
@nuggetnoggin
@nuggetnoggin 7 місяців тому
That’s true! Very rare for scuba gear to have problems if serviced and taken care of though. You actually are suppose to be able to surface from like 40 feet without air during scuba training.Atleast I had to do that , when you rise your lungs expand and more air will be inside. Anyways, thanks for watching! We will keep cleaning up the river

The building on the Nashville railway button is the Parthenon (Nashville is the Athens of the South) the building was built in the late 1890s for the 100 year exhibition that was and the rebuilt in the 1920s as a permanent structure. I would think it was probably used on uniforms somewhere between those 2 dates. The guy that was in charge of the exhibition also the civil chief engineer for the Nashville/Chattanooga railway. My guess is he had something to do with the cross over of the 2 for the button.

It is interesting what you find in your rivers. Your country has some amazing artifacts to represent its history. The bullet /sinker is a great find but I am partial to buttons. The flat and railway buttons are super finds. The buttons lead you to wonder more pleasant thoughts about who wore it and what they did for a living. The civil war bullets evoke feelings of sadness for me so bring on more buttons. Have a great week and please keep safe. 😊🇨🇦

Mike, always enjoy when you and Dasy get together to look for treasure in areas. Weather or not it is in a stream.. With that said, the dresser handle you found, looks like it might have came from a Awe.. Awe handles look like that. Too bad when you melt all that lead down, you couldn't taped it. All that lead would make for an interesting video... What did you make out of all that lead... Did you say Dasy has her own Channel ? Glad to see you are both Christian... The lover of GOD.... Nugget unless there are threads on the shaft part of the wooden round item you found, it could be a Victorian button hook great hunt

Nugget first off, the big flat piece of lead you found with the threads in it is an impromptu boat anchor, with a piece of wood likely screwed into it, at least that is my best guess. The odd shaped piece of Lead with the crude mold line on it is actually a bullet in the shape of a pellet. I'd wager that someone was experimenting with bullet shapes. The shape of the pellet goes way back, I mean way back (think of the shape of the 'birdie' for the game of badminton which dates back to the 1870s). It looks like someone went through the trouble of making a mold to try and see if the shape of the bullet would make any difference in accuracy or range . It's obvious to me that the person who made it had an instinctual understanding of aerodynamics and/or Ballistic drag. This might now be very old, but then again it could be very old, it's just impossible to tell how old it really is. either way this round, if fired from a muzzle loader would have tumbled immediately and either go way off course of punch a keyhole in whatever it was being shot at. a tumbling bullet does not travel very far as it is experiencing all kinds of drag and weight shifting as to make it useless as a bullet, plus it looks as if it is backwards for proper function, the hollow part needs to be in the long tapered end and the solid part needs to be in the short flat part the pellet was meant for catching the pressure of the propellant with a hollow skirt so that with would seal up the barrel and utilize as much of the pressure as possible to gain as much speed as possible the bonus of that set up is that if the barrel was Rifled, and I believe there were experiment guns that had rifling at or near the time of the Civil War, the "Skirt" of the pellet would engage the grooves of the barrel and provide spin, this would then stabilize the bullet through gyroscopic effect. But the flat "Head" of the pellet would have too much drag to give the round any more than moderate range. Anyways I would certainly like to know how old that thing is because it might be a part of gun history if it went back far enough.

nuggetnoggin , at 13:40 heavy lead disk looks like it may match up to the other rounded lead piece?
