I've been using a Bounty Hunter Automatic VLF 840 off and on since I bought it new in December, 1980, just after I tuned 20. Still have the original box, paperwork, and sales receipt. Now after 42 years, it's not running properly. Cleaned a couple of the pot meters for the discriminator and ground balancer , but no luck. It no longer works in the disc mode, only normal mode (all metal) with reduced performance. You think Bounty Hunter would honor the Lifetime Warranty they had then LOL? Now I'm 61, retired, and looking to replace it. Overwhelmed with what is available today in the same price ranges with similar performance, even within the same brand. Have narrowed my choice to the Lone Star Pro or the Tracker Pro, but cannot tell what the difference is between the two beside the size of the coil. Appear to be the same detector except for the price. What say you? Also, I enjoy your informative videos and helped me to narrow my choice.

I won got it today! Watching grandkids just got a chance to check it, wow notches out great and detected silver coins .
