After Cliff's tragic death in 1986, the band interviewed dozens of bassists to find his replacement. They involved both of Burton's parents in the decision to choose Jason Newsted. Cliff's parents were present during the announcement, and after the band broke the news to Newsted, Burton's mother, hugged him tightly and said, "You are the one. Please, be safe." That is so epic and breathtaking.

The Four Horsemen for me. First Metallica song I ever heard, first song I learned on guitar. To this day it's still my favorite

Me too. It reminds of Extreme Championship Wrestling, better known as ECW. That and The singapore cane swinging, beer guzzling, cigarette smoking ECW Hardcore Legend, THE SANDMAN.

Enter Sandman was what got me lifting weights. I went from being a fat slob to totally jacked, because when I heard that song I said hell yeah, I got a grab something heavy and start swinging it around

Cliff is a legend, Rob is amazing and phenomenal, but I will pay to see Jason again with Metallica.

I love the way Flea speaks, very on point and succinct with no BS. Just tells it like is, from the heart without any pretense

Metallica is the best. I'm from Malaysia. I have been a Metallica fan since 1986 when i was only 12 years old. Imagine how far their music has reached back then. With no internet or whatever. They really rocks.

for me Jason is the best Metallica bassist they ever had

Man.. i cant help but imagine if Cliff never died, sad that he had to go so soon.. Shaking the heavens with his beautiful mastery, rock on!

But you have to remember the two men and there families who stood on that stage tonight, came from that tragedy. God always gets the glory.
@Nevermind2004x3 роки тому
“Rock n roll is about possibilities”. That was the sentence that stuck with me since this first got aired. Plus you have to appreciate the fact, that everyone had their speeches prepared. Lars just went for it and killed it.

Rip Jeff Beck. That guy was amazing.. Metallica will always be amazing too me. My greatest influence and inspiration, my favorite band of all time. Especially the earlier days.

Seeing Rob and Jason playing bass together is incredible. I know Cliff Burton was Cliff Burton, but for those of us who grew up on 90's Metallica (although I love ALL Metallica) and into the 2000's, those are the two faces of Metallica on bass. LOVE Jason Newsted, and am SO happy they had him perform for this.

If they were in the HoF, it would have no meaning. (Alas, like several rappers and pop artists there.) Just because you like a group doesn’t mean they should be in the HoF. Same with sports HoFs.
@redrick8900Рік тому
Trujillo was the only thing worth a damn from that band. The idea that he owes it anything is absurd.
