US citizens, especially Gen X, have been trained since a very young age to hate Iranians. I can recall chanting on the playground in the 1980s, "I ran you ran we all ran from IRAN." But the understanding of the political chaos of the era was never taught. I met many Iranians in graduate school. They are lovely, friendly people. They are not monsters. Then we have the opposite situation with Israelis and Jews. We all live in fear of speaking one word against anyone Jewish because to be labeled an "Anti-Semite," means that your reputation is ruined and possibly even the end of your career. But who is showing restraint here? Which country is showing that they have a level head? Iran and Iranians are proving themselves. They are not monsters.
