Kandi was drafted ahead of 3 HoF's (Carter, Nowitzki, Pierce) plus other solid players like Rashard Lewis (drafted out of the 2nd round), Cuttino Mobley, Antawn Jamison, Al Harrington, Mike Bibby, Larry Hughes and several more who had far better careers than him. This list isn't just about who is the worst player selected individually, but factors in overall quality of players available in that draft. The 98 draft had the deepest talent pool in this list.

Yea Bennett was hurt then after being hurt he was overweight due to the injury. Then he got shipped off to Minnesota. Honestly he was a good player in college but went to UNLV which is why not many people knew wtf he was. I was happy he went first but he wasn't really ever given a solid chance as a starter if he ever was starting in Cleveland. NOW, Olowokandi was a classic fuck up.

DatoneGuy I can confirm as Raptors fan he was awful. He could shoot, but insanely soft and an awful defender. Seemed really unmotivated and lazy too, and never developed other skills other than his shooting. He was a big bust and we couldn't be happier to get rid of him.

It’s not always easy to evaluate passion for the game. Some just play ball because they’re good at it and can make a lot of money. Not everybody has a drive like most legends.

And Bowie wasn't exactly a bust. He had a very solid career, and the blazers already had Clyde Drexler. What were they going to do with another ball-hungry guard? Portland might have had success with Stockton, though.

Bargnani should not be on this list. Joe smith should be above him. Bargnani at least capped out at 21+ppg. Their argument was because they passed up on Lamarcus. Picks 2-5 the year Smith was taken were McDyess, Stackhouse, Rasheed and KG. All of them made at least 1 all star team....joe smith played for 12 teams in and some of them he played for twice.

Nah Joe Smith was still better than Bargnani. Smith at least lasted in the NBA, Bargnani had to go back to Europe. Also Smith's career was probably hurt by the Timberwolves Scandal. Smith thought he could sign for multiple years with the Wolves, but that scandal took away any chance of it happening.

A BONA FIDE SCRUB! He can't play! He's got small hands. Can't really catch the ball. He's got bad feet, not really mobile. Even when he's moving not quite sure what he's doing. Dirk Nowitzki was the main reason why Andrea Bargnani became 2006 first pick. Dirk had a stellar performance during 2006 playoffs and led the Mavericks to the 2006 NBA finals. That’s why many NBA teams wanted to draft a player with a similar style of Dirk and Bargnani was hyped during the draft.

Not during football season. Watch, come football season, all these new shows will be great. Most of the analysts, or radio personalities are football lovers. They know basketball as much as they know soccer. They are maybe casual fans at most. But most of these new shows started during basketball season so they haven't had their chance to shine yet. Football season is the key because since games happen over the weekend, they have a whole week of topics to talk about.

In Bowie's defense he was a great college player, he had his number retired by Kentucky. However injuries hurt his career. He did average 10 and 7 for 11 year career.

Anthony Bennett still baffles me the most. I don’t think anyone could have predicted that big of a bust. He made Kwame look like a good pick. Another guy that got a ton of praise and never lived up to the hype was Michael Beasley.

They should do their best NBA No.1 draft picks ever. I'm pretty sure that it would be a very interesting list of players.

Robert Parish at 40 with the Celtics looked younger than Oden in High School. Can’t blame Greg Oden for his injuries. He was well into his late 30’s when he got drafted... or looked like it...

I can’t say Anthony Bennet because he wasn’t drafted for the purpose to do anything. If we are talking about worse then it should also be considered what the players were hyped up to be for selected franchises

Anthony Bennett’s draft wasn’t that bad, it had 3 all NBA level talents, along with CJ McCollum and Steven adams all in the first round. Giannis will probably be the best player in the world one day.

What makes you feel even worse for Greg Oden was he was a very entertaining guy outside of basketball, so had he been able to stay healthy & show what he could do, he could've been the next Shaq endorsement-wise because his personality made him very marketable.

They should redo this to throw in Markelle Fultz. The 76er's are starting him this year to see what he can do and they are learning there is nothing he can do.

bargnani was ok. i mean i kindof get why hes on here but he was a decent player and for example averaged 21 the year before he started having recurrent elbow and other injuries that basically ruined his career.

The Los Angeles Clippers Drafting Michael Olowakandi is probably the reason why The Clippers are taking steps back as well as Donald Sterling doing what he did also played a factor.

81 is still defending Kwame Brown. You could see it on his face - he remembered that nonsensical but sooo entertaining debut as a sports analyst, where he tried to convince Skip and SAS that Kwame Brown was NOT a “scrub.” 😀

The 2013 draft wasn’t particularly strong, but that’s no excuse. Anthony Bennett was a questionable choice from the get go. You still had: Victor Olidipo Stephen Adams The Greek Freek CJ McColloum Rudy Gobert These guys even went undrafted: Robert Covington Matthew Dellavedova Ian Clark Seth Curry While not all stars, have had better NBA careers than Bennett.

In those 4 seasons when Roy LA and Oden were all healthy when they played together won around 80+ games and only lost 15 They were an unreal big three Injuries due to Oden and Roy is the only thing that ruined everything

Admittedly, not a bad list. Kinda agree with the placing. I do think it’s worth noting that Anthony Bennett could rise higher on the list depending on how other dudes in his draft class perform over the course of their perspective careers and this, make Cleveland’s pick look increasing worse as time goes on.

I can't put Oden there since injuries screwed him. When he was on the court early in his career, he showed huge upside as a rim protector and paint defender. Guys like Bennett, Kwame, etc just had no business being taken #1. Especially Bennett. The guy had a decent jumper at best in college and wasn't a great athlete either. He wasn't even lottery talent but somehow went top overall. Way to go Chris Grant and David Griffin

Rule of thumb teams. You don't take a chance with the #1 pick you take a proven talent from college or overseas. You take a chance with the second and third round pick.

pretty decent list but i would switch joe smith with bargnani. Joe Smith was drafted over KG and Sheed. I would take either over Lamarcus Aldrige. When you look at Smith's career he's quite similar to bargs
