It could be any number of things. If he made today a press day then maybe he had a prior interview that had something funky or tasteless on the part of the interviewer that happened. Maybe this was the only press he did this day, he squeezed this in, but he had trouble going on at home otherwise. He could just be not having a spectacular mental health day. He might be in the middle of working on a bunch of stuff so his mind is a little elsewhere because he’s figuring things out, and nothing’s wrong at all. Overall, it’s good to be concerned about others (especially if you appreciate them in your own way, or if you look up to them, whatever you like), but trying to pin a reason on it is tough. If something’s going on then of course I’m sure I can speak for all of us wishing Mike and his loved ones well. He’s been on fire lately as far as output, and the majority of his interviews lately had a very different energy from this one. And, it’s worth mentioning that Mike did warm up and laugh at a point in this, and went into wisdom mode at the end of the interview (which I’m always ravenous for.. another screen recording in my library 👏). This wasn’t particularly doom and gloom or anything.

He's not that into delving into the past. He'd rather speak about his present and his solo career. An informed interviewer would be aware of that and kick off with more current questions. Otherwise the artist feels they are only relevant because of the past.
