This is the kind of story that haunts me. I can’t imagine how the family felt. What got me interested in missing persons was a guy I knew from my hometown who disappeared in 1986. Rumors flew. To this day he’s still missing presumed deceased. Foul play. Rumors were flying around in the mid-90s that his body had been found by Tahoe. Not true. I spoke with his sister about 5 years ago. The family that is left behind never ever is the same. Thank you, Dave for bringing cases into the light. God bless the families.

I listen to Steve Quayle, on a Podcast, every week! I live in Belgrade and Steve still lives in Bozeman. I was watching the Missing Trucker series, and was wondering while I did, if you had ever talked with Steve!! Some of the work Steve has done actually has to do with UFO’s, so I had been wondering about it. I had no idea about his missing brother, Clayton, as I’ve only lived in Montana for 14 years. Love your work and everything you do to keep us informed!!

Great video Dave. I love Huck. She’s adorable. We lost our big handsome Presa Canario “Taz” to old age last night. Our vet came to our home and he got to comfortably go to sleep on his own bed with his family holding him. I’m a huge mess. Dogs are very special to me and it’s always extremely difficult for me when I have to let on go. I’m having him cremated and will have his ashes back in two weeks. Our other dog is very sad now too. Dogs to me are a special gift from God. Angels sent to help on this journey we call call life. Take care Dave.

You're so right, if one wants to quit and go tell your family. I suffered terrible depression in my younger years and one thing I wanted to do was not stop walking, go without a trace, the urge was powerful. Why didn't I, for a start I live in a city, don't drive so by the time I'd walked my feet sore I'd snap out of it, bus it home and be so grateful I didn't go through with it. No one knew or guessed what I was contemplating nor did they remotely guess about my two failed suicide attempts. I mention this because I could have been Clayton. At the age of 29 everything came out when my son was a year old, it had to stop and I had to fight hard against myself and it was the hardest thing I have fought against was me. I am 62 now and no longer have to fight me, but the deceptiveness about how I was feeling was no short of cunning, his family would never have known IF he were like myself. I was 42 when I bent my knees in Faith before Christ.

You know Dave, maybe the problem isn't that he didn't want his family in his life and he didn't care about them, maybe the problem was that he absolutely cared about them and didn't want to burden them with his problems.

Back in the 70s my brother had a friend named Leon Moncer from Bellaire ohio who went missing and years later was declared deceased. He was never found. His truck was found in the strip mining pits in Egypt valley ohio. Lots of boulders. I don't know if he fits your profile or if there was foul play.

Having lived in Bozeman many years, I have been to the hot springs area a lot. I think your hypothesis is correct. Mental difficulties going on with Clayton coupled with bear dangers, heavy snow, etc probably took him out.

Thanks for sharing this story. You’re right about the lack of closure for the family. Even families that fight amongst themselves still wonder about the other members. Having him pronounced dead is about the only thing they can do. May they be accepting of that decree.

On the topic of Great Pyrenees as protectors. There's a story of one who's mate and barnyard friends came under attack by coyotes. Not only did he fend them off, but he proceeded to spend 3 days hunting them down and killing them. His owner assume he had been killed until he returned days later, bloody and battered, barely clinging to life. Those dogs are amazing!

Dogs and small children don’t understand that you’re talking to a phone, camera, or something else. They hear and see you talking and think you’re talking to them because usually when there’s not another person around you’re talking to them. It’s normal for them to act out so you don’t have to talk to yourself. Dogs are amazing. Small children are too, but I don’t have any children around anymore.
