Born in Fayetteville, NC, Morae Ruffin’s formative music moment was singing “I Believe I Can Fly” in church at the behest of his ma and grandma. That gospel influence comes through strong on the singer/rapper’s 'Street Sermons' debut. It’s the latest and strongest addition to the recent wave of “ghetto gospel” tracks, where trap production and street themes mingle with uplifting messages and melodies you’d hear at Sunday service.
