(UPDATE) I popped up on top of Texas at about 2pm, 4-20-2023. It is a challenging hike that I couldn't have completed if I hadn't spent a few months training for it. The mountain is incredible with lots of variety in rock formations, plants and quiet places. There is even a wooden bridge. Footage and photos from there will no doubt make their way into future productions.
This morning (4-20-2023) I am attempting to summit Texas' highest peak, Guadalupe Peak. It's an 8 mile hike with grades averaging 13% and even though I've been training for 3-1/2 months, I'm not under any delusions about what I'm facing. So it's no coincidence this video debuts today. I hope as you watch, you feel a wave of appreciation for nature, and for the awesome power of mountains.
"Mountains" combines some of my own mountain footage with some stock video. It starts out on a journey I took in 2017 to climb New Mexico's tallest peak, Mt. Wheeler (13,167 ft). From there, you travel across many peaks and valleys with people doing what they love to do, in the mountains. Ben Winwood's incredible "Irish Mountains" composition will make you heart soar along with nature's spectacle.
This is the third video in a series about "Natural Places." Also check out "Windy Places" and "Winter Places."
