SMG was asked about this in an interview and she said she had no idea where the story came from but he never auditioned or was offered a part in Buffy. I can't remember who but others have said the same.

It's supprising he was concedered to play in Buffy. I think it's good he didn't accept. Honestly. Ryan wouldn't save Mon of the Mask. No way! It's terrible. Didn't see thankfully but.. For others,I understand fliming taking too long.Preparations,pre-production,script,actors changing. It's normal. Great video

That makes sense why all The Lost City jokes fell flat. Tatum cannot deliver comedy like Ryan. It all makes sense now
