The real question is what is the difference between Joi and a real human female from K's perspective. Joi was just as real as any human female. She even stalled enough to buy K some time. You see K later on staring at the Joi advertisement towards the end. Many take it as him accepting that Joi wasn't real. Though I ask again, if she was a real human female would it have changed anything? I don't think so at all. She still would have died when she did. i felt the same way when i saw the original in 1982. i was so young (10), but it hit me that purity was out there. storytelling was deeper than what we are fed daily. every time i watched it, i found something new. the music became my balance, the scope and atmosphere, the dystopian beauty of hope within decay. we are the androids now. the consumers and regurgitators of the systemic influence.
