I was laying in the hospital bed, after attempting to unalive myself when I saw the news of Robin Williams. He went the same day I attempted to leave. It was the first thing I heard on TV upon waking up. He stuck with me and still does today when I'm down. His decision was permanent and I saw how many people were broken over his departure. @@batgurrl I'm a boomer too. When my Dad died it felt like someone slammed their fist into my chest & pulled my heart out; I couldn't breathe. Fast forward to one of my boomer friends losing her only daughter, to suicide no less, & I said to her, "I can only imagine how much grief you, as a Mother, must be feeling after knowing the depths of my own grief when my Dad died". No Parent is supposed to outlive their child. One of the few times I ever saw my Mom cry was when we were sitting on the couch watching "Terms Of Endearment". She could barely speak through her gasping cries while listening to Shirley MacLaine scream "Give Her The Shot". My Mom grabbed my thigh, in a death grip, & said, "There is nothing I wouldn't do to keep you alive".

From what I understand Anderson Cooper also interviewed a teacher from Briarwood Elementary School by the name of Robin Dziedzic. Robin was sheltering in a girls bathroom with several students who were crying and borderline hysterical. When the tornado hit the school; Robin screamed bloody murder. Eventually she pulled herself together and reassured the students that it was almost over. After the tornado had passed over the school and Robin was able to see the students were safe as well as reassuring them they were okay due to being in a brick building despite the roof having been damaged; Robin opened the bathroom door and cautiously looked into the hallway to see if she could get the kids to safety. Nothing could have mentally prepared her for what she saw and heard the moment she opened the door: the school was flat out destroyed and she heard dozens of students who were screaming and crying. After having a second mental breakdown; Robin and her fellow Briarwood teachers hurriedly sprang into action and began escorting the students to safety. Blessedly no fatalities occurred at Briarwood Elementary School. The day after the tornado; Robin returned to the school as a means of accepting what had occurred to her. The footage Robin was shooting on her phone was eerie to say the least: the first grade wing of the school destroyed, a car flung into the remains of the classroom of her colleague Mrs. Goodman, the bathrooms where they were sheltering, white X's spray painted onto doors, and eventually her classroom.

I was supposed to fly from the west coast back to the east coast to visit my Sister. The Saturday before my flight I started to feel very anxious about flying. My Sister said to me, "you flew through 2 hurricanes, what are you worried about"? I couldn't shake the feeling that the plane was going to crash & I told my co-worker on Monday, "if this feeling doesn't go away by Wednesday, I'm canceling my flight". Tuesday morning, I put on a pot of coffee, turned on the TV, & watched the replay of the 1st plane hitting the 1st Twin Tower. I fell back into my chair & started crying... THOSE were the planes I felt CRASHING. I called my Sister & said, "I didn't tell you before because I knew you would think I was crazy, but I felt a plane crashing, but I thought it would be my plane crashing, not other planes". The next day, one of my company's vendors came running over to me, very upset, & asked if all my family members were ok. I still have quite a few relatives living & working in NYC.

My job was to take our revenue to the bank. I walked down Bay street, our financial district to find that downtown Toronto had been evacuated. I actually walked down the yellow line. I went back to work and told them. They decided to close down as well. The very next day, I was leaving for work when 2 of our air force fighter jets flew over my head. #4 - The death of Kobe and Gianna Bryant. I always question why all the victims of this tragedy are simply referred to as "The 7 others". They had names, families & friends too. I know why Kobe and Gianna are the "main" victims as he was a public figure and well loved & adored by his fans, yet it still bothers me that the other people in that helicopter are rarely named. They were : John Altobelli - Keri Altobelli - Alyssa Altobelli - Payton Chester - Sara Chester - Christina Mouser - Ara Zobayan. It also annoys me when ever Paul Walker's death is brought up. Roger Rodas barely gets mentioned either. I am not American so perhaps I don't understand or "get" why the other people don't get the recognition as the more well known person, but the 'other victims' were people too and should also be honoured as well. Maybe I am just naive???
@MySistah
@MySistah Рік тому
I said the same thing but my friend explained it to me like this... I think it's because you can't weep over every strangers death. People die all day everyday. You'd be constantly grieving and depressed. It's not that the other 7 dont matter. It's just that people subconsciously grouped them in with all the other people that die in tragic accidents all the time. In fact, they still recieved more attention than many others that have died in tragic accidents. Do you know their names too? People are mostly moved by people that have touched their lives. Celebrities touch more lives through being famous therefore they seem acknowledged by more.
