Yes, they feel "being attacked" all the time, and people acting when threatened are the more dangerous, because they don't care about the other side of the argument. This is especially important when the feeling is mostly imaginary, because it is not bounded by actual facts - so you can't convince them or prove it is false. I know a trans who is afraid of going to a certain town, because he/she is convinced it is "transphobic" and dangerous. Zero factual base, some hearsays, gossips, "news facts" - and there is no way of changing that. They are easily falling for "we're under attack" propaganda and they themselves respond with attacks (which are "counterattacks" = "best defense" in their minds).
