I agree. However, I give very little to my sparrows. This is due to the reasons you have given, but they deserve a little. I have opted for sesame or sunflower seeds. The house sparrow seems more robust.

you did good at that and if that is something that interests you as it does me. I volunteer with orphaned animal groups...the first thing they do is teach care, handling and feeding of the specie. That food chicken, bread or people food does not digest at all or very well in an adult bird. But at least you tried to do something. The one thing you did do well is show a human caring for an animal that is good in anybodies book. Broad casting it on you tube is different. Petting is not a natural action were licking is. the mother has a warm wet tongue. It is a learning experiene isnt it! be damned on way or the other. Some people believe in not interfering in mother nature...most of them did not record themselves walking off and leaving the animal. this little guy is probably 100% dead by now...reason i said that, its because baby bird can't eat bread..bread is deadly to baby birds digestive track blockage. if you ever find a abandon baby bird then go with this guide line what to feed it..if it's a seed eater then you go to any pet store and buy a formula kaytee ..it;s like baby emfamil..just feed them this until they're old enough to eat seeds or solid....if they're an omnivore then just buy some dog or cat food and soaked them in hot water til they're soft and make sure it's cooled before you feed the baby bird...you can introduce insects, meal worms, worms etc..

Thank you for the comments, I fed him with cooked chicken breast meat (looked like bread), I also used canned cat food afterwards.

Sparrows are ok with moderated bread as food but obviously with more types of food, I have one now 4 years and she is ok with bread and healthy, she just like bread sometimes but her diet is dried insects (because we live in an apartment in the middle of the city) seeds, fruit, bread and sometimes meat BUT this one is NOT a sparrow, is a mockingbird, the diet of a mockingbird is based of insects and fruit, maybe bread has too much sugar or fat for them

it is fantastic that animals are important to him, his dad cant give him a lift to the pet store for crickets. pulped mealworms in that milk would be the ticket. it is also great that as old as that chick is it responds so well.

Thank you very much for the comments, actually I did what you suggested. That was the first video I took same day I rescued it from the side of the street in front of my house. In video, I fed it with cooked chicken breast meat, not bread (yes, it looked like bread), then I searched the internet and bought cat food from store to feed it. I also caught many crickets from back yard every evenings to feed it.
