New subscriber here. Great work and presentation. Love the dialogue and explanations...but you keep them at a minimum which makes the whole thing very classy! Thanks for posting.

The part you said you found most difficult you could mark the location on the second board by us in a smaller chisel from above and using the sides of the dovetails to keep the chisel square

Great idea. As soon as you said using a chisel it all made sense! Thanks for the tip.

no problem it looks lovely something so simple but elegant about walnut and dovetails just makes it look even better

In small work this is impossible. London pattern dovetails, for instance, only have a saw kerf at the narrow end of the sockets, and there is no room for anything other than a thin knife blade. The issue is never the marking. The issue is always getting the tail board correctly located, and keeping it there.

great work!, on a side note, it's not necesary to put dovetails everywhere... box joints exists long ago.

Don't have your work standing so far out of the vice. It was bending back and forth with each saw stroke. If it sticks out only an inch or two your work will stay still, and your sawing can be more accurate. Next time, rebate your floor into the sides and you won't have the endgrain showing.

I thoroughly enjoyed your video - much prefer to have the thought process of the woodworker rather than some inane, meaningless music playing in the background. One question- when sawing the dovetails why was the board so loose in the vice?

Thanks for the support. I don’t think it was loose on the vice. But I must say I haven’t found the perfect method yet…!

Looking at 4.55 in the video and there's a definite gap

@@jclwyd Oh that's just because my vise is quite big and when I only tighten one side, it's doesn't "bite" in parallel, so the vise is off axis. It's still very tight but not fully "in contact"...
