I almost feel bad for the original company owner in the first story. Worked his entire life to build a company only to have his idiot son lay a proverbial torch to it. But then again, it was probably his responsibility to raise a better son to begin with.

For the last story, my heart goes out to the OP. A part of me made me think that if I were in her shoes I would tell him "You're not my father", but I know that would only hurt her even more later on. Also, his girlfriend is a complete Jezebel, and the dad is too blind because of his lust to see past his own nose.

Right when the dad in the final story said "you just want me to die alone" that solidified my theory that the dad is just desperate to not be alone and just wanted to get with the first woman that showed him the slightest bit of attention. He doesn't care about his daughter he only cares about having a little poontang on hand.

Last story: my suspicion is that the father was already thinking about kicking the op out,it’s just the op made the first move by temporarily staying at the grandparents house and the father practically went with it in the end, honestly the father is nothing more than a simp for his new girlfriend, pathetic.

That last story: The grandparents need to officially file for custody of OP, and get a court order so that the dad has to pay child support. That way, his paycheck gets docked every month to remind him of how badly he screwed up.

That last story was a complete sucker punch. My heart goes out to the OP who is obviously not the jerk. Any parent who acts like that should never have had the joy of parenthood. Last story: the dad is obviously vulnerable and the girlfriend is manipulating him using his grief and his emotions. The girlfriend is jealous of her daughter, since she is probably close to the same age and a reminder of his ex wife (just a prettier, younger version). Surprised OPs grandfather didn’t give her dad a beating for how he was treating his own daughter.

Last story is bitter sweet, it's same time sad that op loses her father, but it's also good to know that he doesn't really care about her. It's always better to cut people like that out of your life. And if he ever changes his mind, well talk is cheap, your actions tell who you are as a person.

That last story broke my heart. I get everyone grieves differently, but WTF? The dad is no dad at all and honestly if I was the OP I would have hit him where it hurts and told him that the mom / his wife who passed away would not recognize who he has become and would be so ashamed of him. Also this is besides the point but the grandparents are entitled to child support from the dad while the OP is living with them. I really think they should take that action even if they don't need the money. It's the principle.

With the Game Publisher story, the missing swag box probably wasn't even related to the C&D. It's very common for their left hand not to know what the right is doing. You're probably not even dealing with the same company in both cases, as they like to subcontract a lot of that work. The people asking for feedback are likely their social media team. They search for popular and trending videos about the game and send out "gifts" hoping it buys them some positive reviews. This is usually a completely separate company (though they're not allowed to say that). And while publishers have their own in-house legal counsel, they tend to be more specialized in international law (games released worldwide need to comply with the laws in all regions in which it's distributed), and internal employee disputes (sexual harassment, employment law, etc). For things related to intellectual property, most publishers (excluding Nintendo) will retain an outside law firm to manage that. Behind the scenes, here's what likely happened: A lawfirm hired by the publisher sent the C&D letter on their own initiative. Around the same time, a social media team or marketing company reached out to OP for his popular video and tried to solicit a more favorable review. OP's lawyer responds but does so to the publisher's internal legal counsel (who oversees the external law firm retained for these things). They look at the response and only then do they look at the original C&D that was sent out on their behalf, then they look at OP's video for the very first time, and realize the fucked up. They see OP is also targeted by their marketing team as a potential asset they're trying to develop and they don't want to silence OP, they want to turn his audience into theirs, so the lawsuit is completely counterproductive. So they expedited the swag shipment, and probably threw in a lot of extras, told the law firm to drop the complaint and settle the matter, and someone got their ass chewed out by their boss for 2 whole minutes before being sent back to work to do it all again, lol. I have worked both directly and indirectly (as a contractor for another company) for two game publishers. This shit is normal for them. And most of their C&Ds aren't worth the paper they're written on. They have to be certified by the court to ensure proper service. I can promise you, this wasn't. Or if it was, they slipped it into a bulk complaint, alleging an organized group was defaming the company in a harassment campaign, and just slipped OP's video in there. But they don't care if they get called out on their BS. 80% of sales happen in the first month of launch, so they will do anything to push pause on a bad review until they're outside that window. After that, post all the hate you like, they don't care, they have their money. But during Launch month (and especially launch week), they really, really care about all reviews because it can make or break the whole release. Most of these claims get dropped quickly for lack of merit but are still effective for the company nonetheless. OP was right to push back. Any footage of the game he used was fair use in the context of a review. His commentary was opinion, and thus immune to slander or libel claims. The company was never going to file a lawsuit, it was a scare tactic. But by pushing back, OP got paid, and they probably won't screw with him again. Odds are the marking team reaches out again in advance of the next game looking to secure his endorsement, lol. With any legal complaint, always authenticate, verify and push back, even if you are in the wrong, you can still get better terms and concessions for meeting their demands. Never take a threat at face value.

I feel bad for the father who started the company. Imagine pouring your blood sweat and tears into a company, bringing it off, working hard, fostering great relationships with your workers, choosing to retire and leaving it in the hands of someone you trust, only to see it crumble to nothing. Third story: My sorry excuse for a father did almost the same thing to me and my brother some years ago. He had went to see this new lady after our mother died, and started neglecting us, leaving us to figure things out for ourselves as we were barely then into adulthood... He was never exactly super dad from the start, but this was his lowest point. I tried to put up with him in this state, but he mooched off my money disability checks, never helping me get a job or anything, just making me pay-rent to stay in my own childhood home, while he spent time with his newer girlfriend. I don't have any solutions i can offer, aside from... keep a safe distance until he realizes -he- screwed up. If your dad finds out how much of a bitch his girlfriend is, and wants to make amends while throwing her out, than good for him, but he should have put more consideration into your feelings on the situation I feel bad you lost your mother, and i can see why he might not be entirely at fault in his initial grief blinding him to anything else, but sympathy can only go so far. Your Pa needs to wake up, grow up, and say sorry.... and if he cannot do that, than he's a lost cause, drowning in his own grief. So, to explain the story at 9:18 . To preface, _I am not a lawyer, I don't claim to be a lawyer, this isn't legal advice_ ... but. That lawyer's response was freaking *gold* . There's a phase of a lawsuit called "discovery" where you get to ask the other side a bunch of questions and ask for evidence and documents _under oath_ . Discovery is very broad. You can ask for _anything_ that you feel _may_ be relevant to the case and they basically can't say no without a _very good reason_ . So, this game has problems. What the lawyer was doing was basically forcing the company to say "yes we knew about these problems but we published the game anyways" because oh yes they knew. The eternal calculus of any game dev is 'how much will this bug cost to fix vs how much lost revenue leaving it in will result in' . So they knew about the bugs, and still left them in anyways and with the lawsuit, it could be proven in the court of law... which is generally publicly available. Instant PR shitshow. implied 'we knew, we didn't fix it' is one thing. _Proven under oath_ ? Nuked, from, orbit. Beautiful, masterstroke by the lawyer in question.

Story 3, at the beginning of it. The part about the op not knowing anything about the girlfriend and them moving fast. makes me think about the fact that I am in a similar situation as op because my dad didn't tell me anything about her before she came to our house, just a few days after he told us that he had a girlfriend. In the UK it is illegal to work more than 48 hours in one week if you choose to do so. This is unless if you are under 18 in which you have to work 40 hours or under in one week. As a tall attractive male I have been sexually harassed severely and had very graphic sexual comments made to me by female coworkers and female bosses. As a man you just get laughed at if you claim sexual harassment because what man wouldn't want a bunch of women trying to sleep with him all the time. In the last story it’s obvious he’s going through a sort of midlife crisis+extreme morning. trust me in a few years time he’s going to see what he’s done. Also this new girlfriend is probably going to start talking about her saying bad things, including her wonderful if she is no longer there. If he’s a weak man he will start to believe her and agree she is better off out of the picture. But if he’s actually a good man which I hope he is he will slowly come to the conclusion what the girlfriend really is, and that his daughter was telling the truth. I wish we could see what happens in the long run, but we’re unlikely to.

Im mostly in utter disbelief over the last story. I agree that grief can be complicated no matter the situation but it most times brings families closer. I would not trust his new gf in the slightest. But your dad will look back on this someday OP and will regret not including you in his life and comforted you as you /may/ have done for him. Sooner or later he will come to his senses but it will be far too late to reconnect on a great relationship that was previously had before your mom passed away and the new girl stepped in.

In the 2nd Story. The reviewer could have actually just said it was fair use. Because fair use allows you to criticize and make something similar to it, but you can't make profit off of it. The op in the last story made a mistake with leaving. The gf wanted her gone so she could control the ops dad. Im willing to bet the idea for the “break” came from the gf so the daughter would hate her daddy and keep her away. She should have stayed and keep recording the gf while trying to talk to the dad. And if it didn’t work just show the recording to her grandparents and have them help with some kind of intervention and make him listen to them

The last story was really heartbreaking and I can somewhat feel for the OP My mom broke up with my Stepdad that had raised me and was essentially my dad since i didn't know back then and he was sad to see us go I visited him the first i think 3 years regulary until he stopped contacting me I cried so much my mom called him really angry with him After that I visited him i think like 2 last times before the same shit started again and i said to myself "fuck you" Maybe he acted like that because of his new girlfriend as well maybe it was something else

About this last story, I would've destroyed that B. I would've recorded everything. Dug up some dirt on her and then destroyed her life and relationship.
