First, try performing a hard reset. This doesn’t always work, but it can occasionally fix the problem if your iPhone’s software crashed, causing it to appear like it wasn’t charging.
Next, we recommend trying multiple chargers and Lightning cables, inspecting each one for physical damage. If any one of the physical components in the charging process is broken or malfunctioning, then your iPhone won’t charge. Many times, the issue is caused by a cheap, “gas station” Lightning cable that’s not Apple MFi certified.
Also try cleaning out your iPhone’s Lightning port. If there’s any gunk, lint, or debris in the charging port, it can block your Lightning cable from making a clean connection to the Lightning port. We recommend using an anti-static brush, but if you don’t have one, a toothbrush will suffice.

Every iPhone I’ve had has had charging problems as soon as it gets to about 2 years old. I’m convinced they do this on purpose with the software updates.

Its mostly because apple chargers last 3months before they stop working. also my phone is 6 years old and it has a really bad charging issue! If your iphone is on 50 percent or lower it dies. Its really frustrating and i cant just buy i new phone

@@lauraavila8929 i just cleaned the bottom of the phone and it didnt work so i tried it again i keep charging but it work...BUT its stuck at lowbattery so..i rub the back of the phone or you can just do anything to make the back hot AND I LEAVE IT FOR A MINUTE AND IT WORK (Idk if this work to you)

Very useful and informative, but I would like to share my experience. My Iphone was charging, but the camera wouldn't be recognized by quicktime, keynote or OBS. I suspected it was software as their was no wear and tear on either of my apple bought cords and could be found in the finder. I did a reset of all settings in the settings of the iPhone and it did the trick! It was less involved than a DFU reset, but it worked! People trying it should be careful that they are only resetting the settings and and not erasing data, but it was only one click. Thanks for the video!

Before I used your " Magical" fix, there was a sliver of red on the left side of my battery thingy that shows on the top right of my phone, but right after the reset, it was totally GREEN! Thanks guys! The hard reset on my 6 did the trick - had to hold the buttons for a really long time and I thought it didn't work, but I put the phone down to watch the rest of your video, and it powered itself back up. Once it came back up, it started charging normally.

Thanks for the tips I almost wasted a trip to the apple store. Been struggling with charging my iphone for months now and now its good as new. Did a reset then cleaned the port with a tooth pick. I thought i had cleaned before but this time i cleaned harder and shined a light to ensure every bit of dirt came out. One less thing to worry about now :)

OMG,OMG, OMG - thank you!!! You both are lifesavers/phonesavers! Used toothpicks to clean and clean and clean out port… Still wouldn’t work, but I had a feeling the port was gunked up as the outside of port looked like a greasy car part.😱 Blew into port a few times, pounded phone on counter and, voila!, my ancient iPhone 5S has arisen from the dead 💀 Thank you, gentlemen!!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Small brush and compressed air worked for me cleaning out charging port on 6s, found itty bitty tiny lint stuff. Checked with flashlight and magnifying glass, cleaning more until I saw nice shiny metal inside

I've had my 11 Pro for 3 years and the lightning port is working intermitently. I don't want to take it into somewhere like a phone repair store or Apple store and have to leave it there. I am visually impaired, so I use my phone for most things 24 hours per day. Is there a UK equivalent of cellsavers?

I use an iPhone SE and tried to hard reset it. It was charging all day, but every time I tried starting it it only shows the dead battery sign. It never took this long to charge before, but by now the phone is three years old.

I hope you will be able to help me please? So what happened was my iPhone 11 got thrown and smashed really bad to where the front and back screens are cracked/broken and frame broke as well. So i ordered me new lcd on amazon as well as new back glass. Upon opening the iphone i noticed the battery was bulking and when i pressed on it i can feel juice or liquid. And then i couldnt remove the cracked glass on the back of original one. Then i looked on ebay and saw someone selling iphone 11 back housing only WITHOUT motherboard and I decided to buy it and figure i can just add what ever components that was missing on the back housing. And when i got it in the mail, i put the motherboard on and connected all connectors. Then i went to charge and it wouldnt charge at all and no red battery screen shows either it is just black screen. Do you know what i did wrong? I also tried putting my original tactic engine on… not sure if that helps but still it didnt charge. So now i am left with a new lcd, new back glass, and used back housing with missing components. Please can you kindly advice me? Can you tell me how i can test what components that isnt working? Or what ever you think can be possibility of what i did wrong or what can be wrong? Thank you so much! Sorry for long explanation.

Great video guys, but the only thing you didn't cover was the male end of the charging cord. I had one that got gunk on it and wouldn't charge. I bought a new one, had it a week and the same thing happened. I then noticed in my vehicle if it is not put into a cup holder or some other thing to hold it, it drops to the floor. I'm in the northeast, so during the winter water is on the floor. I now will get a charger that is the one you recommended. I'm just hoping its not a chemical reaction to the cheaper charger.

My iPhone 6 wont turn on. While plugged in it only shows the low battery sign and that's it. Been left on charge for about 2 days straight and no response.

Did the hard restart you suggested (volume up, volume down, side button). That worked. I wouldn’t have know that. I was trying with volume up and side button and that wasn’t working. Thanks for the helpful video!

OK...so I am old enough almont approaching retirement.....My wife and kids keep telling me I need a now Iphone...all because it was not always charging....Iphone 7 btw....when I plugged the usb side into the phone charger the phone would make a 'clink', 'clink', 'clink' sound. I needed to move the usb from side to side until I finally saw that little lighting bolt up in the corner and I then knew that phone was actually charging... I tried you 1st to on resetting the phone....WHAAAALAAAA!!!...worked like a charm......had to still want the rest of the video....enjoyable and informative...thanks so much!!!....you saved me $$$$$$

The main issue is that apple replaced the old charging/usb port wich was with iPhones up to iPhone 4 with a new port, which while compact is flawed and really not up to the job. If I ever decide to switch to android or windows phone, it will most likely be for reliable charging - not for the software or other hardware.

Hard reset worked! iPhone 5s. I plugged it in and held two buttons down. Great!

Thanks for the video. Ended up being a bad connection in the usb plug. Would have hated to go without my phone for 11 hours. 😂

Hi great video and thanks a lot for the instructions on how to reboot. I just want to share my experience after trying all your fixes. Nothing worked on my cell phone and it didn't charge. I took it to service and the problem was a defective battery that was changed under guarantee. Anyway, thanks a lot for your advise guys. Cheers.

Hello, I really need your help.. I have a iPhone 13, it doesn't charge with the original cable ( which I bought new)..but it does charger with another 6 $ cable but at a certain angle where the wire I pushed down a little..I don't have no debris or anything and cleaned my port with acetone also.. Please help me what should I do next?

Thank you so much!!!!!! My old iPhone 5s is getting old and is giving me problems but other wise works fine I wasted 25 minuets trying different things and the hard reset fixed it lol but it works now thanks!

Michele Stone a hard reset was the last thin I did but I also took a q-tip with a plastic handle and cut it at an angle to fit in the charging port then I put isopropyl on the q tip and that fixed it

Important Note For iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X: The hard reset your iPhone - press and release the volume up button, press and release the volume down button, then press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears! The hard reset methods discussed in this video only cover the iPhone 7 and earlier.

If I tilt the cable up and put pressure on it, it charges. Tried 3 different cables that worked in wife’s phone so the cables good. Are the pins stuck in the port?
