I know right, talented all the way. I believe they have to play an instrument (or maybe even piano) as part of the curriculum at Vaganova. And she needs musicality and precise coordination for both, so I can see how that goes...

@billie. ramone Although I'm an American, I believe you are correct. I think that the educational programs for ballet students in Russia are better and broader than American ballet training programs.

I saw in some video about Maria that she has on her channel, that she’s a bit of a piano virtuoso

@billie. ramone Makes sense. Learning to play an instrument when you're a dancer helps you with your timing.

Most schools in strict big academy require to take piano or violin so you can get in touch with music

@@user-ut4vi7wb4h that's sweet of you, thanks! Ballet didn't actually cause the injury - it was a congenital condition - but it certainly didn't help any because if I hadn't spent most of my life trying to open my hips and increase turn out, I wouldn't have ever known. It is what it is.

I mean I’m not her but as for how her schooling worked… She went to Vaganova, which is a ballet academy in St. Petersburg, so it’s focus is on ballet. However it is also a regular school, meaning they have to take and pass all the required regular subjects (math, literature etc)… but ballet is the focus and the rest of the school day is built around it. It is basically middle + high school (6-12th grades, but 6th=1st grade). There are dorms if you’re from far away, but Maria is from St Petersburg so she lived at home. Hope this helped a bit. There are also plenty of videos on UKposts about what a day is like at Vaganova. I believe even Maria has one. Edit: just wanted to add this. Even just to get into Vaganova is extremely competitive. There are auditions and they accept based on potential determined by body type (flexibility, turnout, etc)… only 20-60% (depending on the year) of students actually graduate. A lot are expelled if they don’t progress.

Sorry to hear you are going through this.i wish you well.i also wanted to dance but i was one of four girls and only the eldest one got to go to lesson's. I used to go and watch the classes and wouls sit there tapping my feet.im 76 now and it still fills me with sadness that i couldent do it.but i love to watch any sort of dance but especialy Ballet.take care.🌹🌹

I TOTALLY feel you... I began dancing around 6 years old and I sucked for a long time (I was pigeon toed and flat footed- so the docs told my mom to put me into ballet to help my muscles in these areas - it worked, but I still was pretty low in my class. It tool an injury, a lot Pilates and a new perspective to make great improvements in about a year and a half. I didn't end up going professional... I was very close.. but life had other things in store for me 😊 But I wanted to mention, that whole I loved dancing ballet I LOATHED other types...especially contemporary like people dancing 😂 Over time I finally got better at jazz and modern dance, but man, I really had to put on an "act" to "dance" without set choreography! Good luck in your journey to become a doctor! ❤ Be sure to look into nutrition as I understand that's not addressed in the schools much. God bless!

Well Vaganova does require piano as a class… but obviously she took lessons before she started Vaganova as she described. But yea. Super talented.
