Manu is the city of San Antonio’s favorite player in Spurs history. Everyone recognizes Tim is the greatest and we owe everything to Tim, but Manu is the fan favorite. There’s a sick mural of Manu on the back of a building on the Southside of San Antonio near Roosevelt and Steves. Nobody would dare vandalize it

In the modern era, imo, he's the 3rd best SG I've ever seen. MJ, Kobe, Manu. He had no weaknesses. One of the most creative if not the Most creative player I have ever seen. Top 5 highest IQ in history. Un-believable passer and floor general. Ice in his veins in the biggest moments. Went toe to toe with Kobe. Very very few could. Incredible defender. The most un-selfish player ever due to agreeing to come off the bench while many times in many games being the best player on the Spurs. On any other team would have avg'd 25+ppg, and 8-10 apg. Would have been All-NBA like 8+ times. Would have also been multiple time All-Defense. Without a doubt the most underrated player in history.

Kobe respected a lot Manu, because both had that mentality to win at all costs. And you have to do something special to win kobe's respect. I remember a story about the USA national coach, about kobe wanting to guard manu Ginobili and set the example for his team against Argentina, but then Manu got injured and Kobe lost motivation to play. That just shows how they were alike in terms of competition mentality. Manu also said in his retirement speech that his will to win was not healthy, because he was too obsessed with winning that he sometimes didn't enjoy the ride.

With the arrival of Manu Ginobili, Euro step quickly spread all over the world. Ginobili's ability to take on the role of sixth man for the team's victory is highly regarded as a major factor in the Spurs' strength from the 2000s to the 2010s. He is one of the best sixth men in NBA history, along with John Havlicek and Jamal Crawford.

Thank you for this video ! I'm from Argentina and a basketball big fan. As you may know, we have the soccer's GOAT, who is Lionel Messi. However, if you ask me who is the best sportman in Argentina 's history I will not hesitate and answer: Manu is ! What Manu did for our basketball is so hard to explain. Nobody was able to expect that Argentina would be the first team able to beat an NBA team in an international competition. Well, that happened in 2002, in Indianapolis. And the peak, Athens 2004 and the Olimpic Gold Medal after beating USA in the semifinals. That achievements were totally unexpected. Manu gave basquetball a popularity that never had in Argentina. And then...his NBA's career. 4 rings and the respect he gained among the superstars and legends like Magic or Kobe. Thanks again ! It makes truly justice to a good guy like Manu. ❤

He was just one of a kind. He “clowns” the Lakers in his debut game, wins the chip as a rookie - and has pretty much won any trophy that is out there. And he has as many game winning plays that you forget that he was coming of the bench - who passes to Horry, make the block on Harden, wins it against Serbia, Warriors etc.

8:43 Manu never averaged 20 in the regular season but he did in the playoffs twice and one of those times was during the Spurs championship run in 2005. The ability to elevate your numbers in the playoffs from the regular season is something I really value tremendously when talking about a player's legacy and Manu not only averaged 20 in the 2005 playoffs, he did on better efficiency than in the regular season. Manu also scored more as an old man in the 2014 playoffs than he did in that regular season.

Manu was overlooked as an allstar and all pro because of his sacrifices. But he is without doubt the greatest defensive player ever.He has the greatest shot block ever on KD,that's never mentioned. He's easily one of the 10 best players ever, although noone would put him on that list because he doesn't have the stats, but if you saw him play and really understand basketball and everything he did for his teams, that would be all you need. Should have been 6th man of the year every year, defensive player of the year most and all defensive team every year. He could score in every way possibile and had so many hockey assists, that if added to his statistical assists, would probably be around 15 per game. That's the type of vision and understanding of the game he had. He saw things before they happened and made things happen the way he wanted. He was way too unselfish. How Parker got the finals MVP instead of him I'm '07,I'll never understand. He embarrased LeBron on both sides of the ball. He made Kobe hit him because he frustrated him so badly. I can't think of anyone other than MJ or Bird, that I might choose to start and lead a team over him. He did whatever was required at that moment. Honestly, he is probably the 3rd best player of all time,by just a hair behind Jordan and Bird. He WAS the Spurs. He was the epitome of a team player and really, what a basketball player should be. A great passer and scorer, despite not being a really great shooter. He could leader any team and he found ways to get everyone in the best position to score and defend He guided others to where they needed to be to win. He led Argentina and the Spurs to heights they couldn't have achieved otherwise. Had some great teammates who he made better and others he lifted to greater heights. It would take weeks to really explain his greatness on the court. He's also as classy as any celebrity I've ever met.Dude, you are definitely wrong. He could have been a mega superstar if he hadn't been so team oriented, but that is really what made him so great. He's definitely on my Mount Rushmore

Watched my Pistons lock down Kobe in the 04 Finals with 2 of the GOAT perimeter defenders in Prince and Hunter then watched these 2 guys on skates trying to keep in front of Manu who dunked on Rasheed in his 11-point 4th quarter of game 7 and dunked on Ben Wallace the quarter before. No one better use the "not most athletic" trope. His agility and body control was as athletic as there's been in the NBA and he's had plenty of monster blocks and dunks, including the one Jalen brought up when old bald spot Manu dunked on Bosh Adanced numbers prove his greatness. You made me a fan because I totally agree with you. Manu only cared about his team and winning. He didn't care about his personal gains. It was always about the team. He loved the game so much and he played every summer for his country, Argentina. Can you imagine how much better he would have been had he just relaxed like everyone else? However, he played year after year for Argentina on his off season because of his commitment to his Country and his teammates. He didn't ever complain. He played hurt and just sucked it up. Aggressive, determined, committed, indulgent, prepared, strategic, selfless, without hesitation, devoted to helping his teammates win and putting them in that position to win! I played with a player I grew up playing with that reminded me of him. He played CYO games then played our game and would still win the MVP in both games. He stole the ball, he was the leading scorer, he’d be laughing while you were trying to steal the ball from him and could make it from anywhere on the court. Once I saw him attack, I knew he would be the toughest guy they be head hunting for! I told him in Spanish, No te Rajes! Don’t let them stop you! Mano a Mano.

Precisely for that reason. He didn't become a superstar because of his humility. I started watching NBA because of him, and I really became aware of out of this world talent when I saw a 20 compilation of his last season. There is no way to describe his talent to pass, fake, confusw his oponents, he's pace and rithym, he sae the play before it happen. Was somethin like what we see with luka. Thanks for this video!

Ginobli is an afterthought because he voluntarily went to the bench. He was the straw that stir the drink while Timmy was the fountain and Tony was the engine.

Tim, Tony, Manu. The winningest trio in NBA history. Enough said.

If I have to expand the list of the 50's greatest to 75, I start with Manu Ginobilli. And even though Soccer is the #1 sport in Argentina. Argentina historically has beaten the USA Basketball team in World Championships and Olympics. When Manu retired, he was the last of the few good players that we had in the NBA. I stop watching Basketball right after Manu retire. And now I'm back and it is because of Victor Wembanyama, he is the real deal. I don't know how long I will last because the NBA is brutal in its deterioration. But Victor right now, has brought me back. But I don't think I'll last that long, and that includes me been back playing Basketball 3 on 3 at the senior circuit.

There are too many great players on the Spurs to name....Gino was the most fun to watch. He did it all. He destroyed offenses...he destroyed defenses. He put it all out there on the floor.

Basketball reference was tripping on that. His sacrifice and what he brought to his teams are what made him so hall of fame worthy. Not many players like Manu exist.

If you do a little research you will find out tha this dude was a career like neighborhood champ, district champ, city champ, state champ, national champ in Argentina then goes to Europe and league champ, national league champ, Euro champ. Then panamerican champ, fiba world champ, olympic champ and few nba champs. Just like that.

Bench or not, a man's game speaks for itself. Too many NBA players act like no one will give them credit for their play if they aren't a starter. We live in an age of every stat being scrutinized. Players' stats have stats. Play well, starter or not, and the world will know.

The fact he has blocked pretty much every superstar hall of famer in his era proves his insane IQ and discipline. Manu could’ve averaged 25-30 ppg easily
