This is something that I have no doubt future generations will remember as a truly historical event. No matter what you think of Trump or the Kim dynasty of North Korea, you have to admire the willingness from both sides to at least begin the talks of peace.

Diplomatic communications between the US and North Korea didn't start with Trump's self-serving photo-op, but they have been going on for decades. All Trump did was subvert proper diplomacy and give the North Korean dictator unearned legitimacy, for absolutely nothing significant in return. Trump set back the cause of peace with North Korea.

Kim didn’t live in North Korea until he was 17 years old. Before that, he was an student in Scandinavia I believe. Where he grew up with western ideologies. He is very aware of what is happening outside Korea, because similarly, his own kids are studying outside NK but they remain anonymous ofcourse because of political reasons.

I definitely think this is a great thing and I hope that it’ll set a precedent for N Korea an US relations. I think what people are worried about is that it seems like President Trump is ignoring and enabling N Korea’s bad behavior. If Trump can keep the pressure on Kim Jong Un to not attack his neighbors, stop killing foreign people who enter, and treat the N Korean people more humanely then I’m totally all for this.
