NC State's 27 Point Comeback vs. Maryland - November 26, 2011

NC State comes back from a 41-14 deficit versus Maryland to gain bowl eligibility during the final game of the regular season.
It was the second biggest comeback between two ACC teams in ACC history, and the biggest comeback in NC State history. It's a game that included 35 fourth quarter points, and 42 unanswered points.

As a UMD student I was absolutely heartbroken by this game haha. We had lost 7 straight and I thought "THERE'S NO WAY WE CAN BLOW THIS LEAD" I was mistaken haha. 4:32 is hilarious though: "That's bullshit, that's bullshit and you know it"

I was there Nd almost left at half. Sooo glad I didn't. This video doesn't really do the game much justice. You had to have been there to get the full experience. Carter Finley was the loudest it's ever been and ALL the players and fans of nc state were just going crazy!!! One of the best memories of my life. Go pack!! Hooowwwwllllllll!!!!

Good job, NCSU01! Thanks. Go State! Mike Glennon has emerged as a Leader. He tied two State Records: • Glennon tied the school record for touchdown responsibility as he threw for 5 TDs and ran for 1 to finish with 6 TDs. PR in 2002 against Navy is the only other State player to total 6 TDs in a game. • Glennon tied the school record with 5 TD passes in a game. Glennon is the 5th State player to throw 5 TDs in a game.

I was there from beginning to end. Its funny how me and my friend are half-optimistic at the end of the first half, saying we only need two TDs per remaining 2 quarters (and that UMD need not score no more). Best NCSU game I have seen in my 5 years at State. Go Pack!

I was in Crapel Hill that day watching the Holes vs Blue Devils with my Tarheel bro inlaw. The u*NC fans were having a field day with every Maryland score in the 1st half chanting "fear the turtle" and whatnot. Then later it was comments like "that score can't be right" and "what the hell is going on in Raleigh?" from the heel fans. LOL

Oh, and one more thing, NC State did not get crushed by Maryland. There is a reason we needed Glennon to throw 5 touchdown pass and run for 1 to actually be in the game. NC State almost blew it when Earl Wolff fumbled and I was talking to alot of NC State fans down by 27 about who our next coach would be.. That game shouldn't have been close.

I have a rule. If I attend a NC State game I never leave before the clock says "0:00". As a student in college this was the closest I have ever been to leaving a game early. Certainly glad i stayed. :) #gopack

I think this was Maryland's last game in Raleigh. This game has to be one that TOB will remember for the rest of his days. State ended up 8-5 that year, including a loss to Louisville in the Belk Bowl. Season ended up strong with victories over UVA, UNCHeats, Clemson, and Maryland. Also had two bad losses to Wake and BC that would have moved the Pack up in the bowl picture.

It's the best by the numbers, but I feel like we all probably love the end of 2021 game against UNC a little more. Two TDs with an onside kick recovery in 25 seconds in the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter against the evil of all evils is pretty much the perfect comeback.

So funny how it turned out for the Glennon brothers. The older brother Sean goes to a bigger fan base school at VT and performs horribly as for his younger brother get his shot at a smaller fan base school and performs quite well. O brien REALLY took a gamble replacing Wilson with a QB that had a older brother that flaked out in college but it seemed to had paid off.

TOB was gone after that game if they didn't come back. Should have been canned anyway, needing to beat a sorry team like that just to go to a bowl, not to mention having to make a record comeback to do it.
