I feel like I have watched his kids grow up before my eyes, and I've never met them. It's funny. His daughter has grown from telling him off about juice in toddler gibberish to confiding in him about her romantic life. And the boy...he can hold his head up good now 🤣.

I dont understand that rule for some people for one reason and one reason only. Why the fuck do they just barge on in, it's like knock and wait for a answer before coming in it's just manners. That's how it is in my house. No locked doors because if I need to get to you for any reason I can't have the door stopping me, however that is followed by this rule. Knock and wait for a answer when doors are closed, if no answer knock fairly hard and wait, at that point just go in if no answer.

With that in mind, my mom believed in that same mindset, I wasn't ever doing anything "stupid" but when you're putting on a condom and your mom knocks. I was on a mission obviously. That's why when I lived at home I wanted that one particular boundary understood. Sadly, I'm black and black mom's just don't mind 🤣. My point being just trust your kids.
