Nakani: The Wildman of the North
Legend has it that a mysterious figure haunts the frozen forests of Northern Canada. Very little known outside of the Canadian Territories and Alaska, this figure most closely resembles the Sasquatch said to roam the rainforests of the Pacific Northwest. To the Dene people who have inhabited the Athabascan wilderness since time immemorial, however, these creatures are known as Nakani.

Oh cool. Igor Burtsev of Russia, talks of the Menk, and Almas. I've gotten to watch quite a few documentaries on the native tribes of Siberia. From tribes like Eskimos, Inuit, and frosted Indians of the North, to the Slavic, Mansi, and even Mongollian tribes. Plus, many tribes of the Americas to Australia. So many cool videos and films. Especially about the Dyatlov Incident. Mysterious for sure. I'm Annishinaabé Cree French and Norwegian. Thank you for sharing your story. That's awesome! 😍

Teddy Roosevelt wrote about Sasquatch also consider that silver back gorillas weren’t officially discovered until the early 20th century and they were thought of as legends for a long time
@samlott99
@samlott99 4 роки тому
Wrong. Silver Back Gorillas had LONG been known about, and hunted by the tribes of the Congo jungles where they live. It was a KNOWN fact that they existed. Western Civilization had not yet seen Silver Backs, so people try to say they "weren't discovered." It's so ridiculous that people try to use that argument, as if Western Civilization is the only place in the world that matters. And then, Teddy Roosevelt's writing about a possibly Bigfoot was not his direct experience. A hunter/trapper named Bauman told a few campfire stories, one of them about a creature he never actually saw.
@honeybadgerstudios21
@honeybadgerstudios21 4 роки тому
Snak3Rak3 you’re proving my point, native people in America believe Sasquatch to be as real as deer, bears and birds. Of course the natives of the region knew of the silver back before Europeans because they’ve lived there for thousands of years but to the euros gorillas were something fantastical as much as a unicorn. All I’m saying is what you’re stating doesn’t disprove Sasquatch, I recommend watching bob gymlin on UKposts he’s an anthropologist and primatologist and he take a scientific look at the subject, I find him to be a reliable source if you’re open to the idea
@samlott99
@samlott99 4 роки тому
@@honeybadgerstudios21 I'm well aware of who Bob Gymlan is.(that's not his real name, and he is NOT an anthropologist. Gymlan is a play on the name Bob Gimlin, who rode with Roger Patterson. Bog Gymlan has NO professional credentials in any kind of science). Don't forget about Jeff Meldrum. But what I said does NOT prove YOUR point at all. Not even close. There is all kinds of overwhelming empirical evidence of the existence of Gorillas, but NOT of Bigfoot. We even have interaction between humans and Gorillas recorded on video, but not Bigfoot. And I hate to disappoint you, but not all Native Americans believe in Bigfoot. Many of them take a common sense, practical approach to the subject, as they should. I'm well aware of all the different rhetoric regarding Bigfoot. I consider myself a 95% nonbeliever, and 5% that it's "possible, not but not likely they exist." Too many people throw ridiculous explanations out there as to why in this age of advanced technology we don't have any realistic documentation of their existence. "They are aliens." or "They are interdimensional beings." On and on. If we can document the life cycle and survival habits of a creature as elusive as a Wolverine (not to mention MANY other elusive creatures) then is certainly wouldn't be so difficult to document bipedal creatures that are said to reach 12 feet tall in some cases. Some people say there are as many as 30,000 Sasquatch in North America. Even if there were only 5000, they wouldn't be able to hide so easily. That's like 5000 Bengal Tigers, or 5000 Gorillas trying to remain hidden. It just wouldn't work out.

Snak3Rak3 dude bob gymlin is his UKposts name he even says so on multiple occasions, not everyone has to have their real name as their UKposts name, I’m not even Matt prater he’s an nfl player. And if you watch any of his videos he clearly has a background in primatology. And think about this throughout the us and Canada there are millions of acres non inhabited by people, now many people guess that if their real they don’t have a large population like deer, but over the entire continent only about 2-4,000, now if you know anything about ecology and population numbers you would know that is an incredible small number, now you claim that nobody sees them and therefore they can’t exist, but they are seeing them and people belittle them and those are the people who talk about it, if you saw something in the woods that you believed not to be real, something that you know you’d be ridiculed if you went to the press about I think there’s a chance that you don’t tell anybody. Look I’m not 100% sold on the idea of Bigfoot, but anatomically, geographically, and ecologically I believe it’s possible
@samlott99
@samlott99 4 роки тому
@@honeybadgerstudios21 Ok dude. Maybe someday there will be some empirical evidence. To date, there's not s single piece of a specimen, dead or alive, anywhere. There's more evidence that dinosaurs existed 20,000,000 years ago than there is evidence Bigfoot existed 20,000 years ago, not to mention 50 years ago. Plenty of dinosaur fossil evidence. Nothing even close to a Bigfoot like creature on the fossil record.

So many hunters and other people go missing in the woods with no trace, often never to be seen again. In one case, a child was found alive and she said she was taken by a hairy man. There are too many accounts throughout time that are too similar to not be based in truth.

My ex-husband has gone on a few canoe trips in the Headless Valley. I think that it was back in the early 1980’s that one young man on that trip went missing, never found. I have a photo of him at our wedding in 1979. His name was Alister & he had gone on ahead of the others. I will try to get my daughter to ask my ex-husband for more details if he will share them. Hoping to get your book soon & actually would like to get a copy for my Ex & just tell my daughter to say it is from her. Thank you so much for all of your research & work & for sharing all of these wonderful stories with all of us! I have been stuck in Southern Ontario now for too many years due to poor health. I just turned 71 & hope & pray I can live in the North again before I die. We used to live between Timmins & Kirkland Lake. For the first 3 years we lived in a log cabin a quarter of a mile into the bush. We used my husband’s Newfoundland dog to pull a sled. No hydro or plumbing. Bathed in Fox Lake in warmer weather. Seven years ago, my only son lost his life to hypothermia on a hike near where we lived. It may have been suicide but I think he just underestimated the weather. He didn’t know a severe cold weather warning had been issued. He hadn’t been up there since he was a wee child & had no idea of how to be properly attired. He was a college professor in Oberlin Ohio & frequently went on impulsive hikes whenever he was attending a conference down in the States. Are there any mysterious tales from the Northern Ontario area that you have written about? Thanks for your time & efforts.

For anyone even remotely interested in Bigfoot/Sasquatch this video is a MUST WATCH and it has caused me to purchase the book. I am a many year follower of the Bigfoot phenomenon and have even gone to several BF conferences. I had a strange vocalization-only encounter in 1979 in a remote area that has plagued me ever since - as to what it was. According to an Indian Chief that I spoke to in person who is from the area I was camping/hiking in, it is highly likely I heard a Bigfoot. As a result of this personal encounter I have read about 25 books on BF over the years and watched almost everything on the Internet. This video is way-up-there on the list of interesting documentaries about the BF/Sasquatch/etc. phenomenon.

I shouldn’t be hogging space here again but will try to be quick. I have Native ancestry too but I guess the only firm proof I have is a photo of my great great grandfather, Daniel Rollins in his American Civil War uniform. He had gone down from Quebec to fight for emancipation of the slaves. He was Mohawk. There was also Narragansett in his lineage. The Rollins family arrived in Massachusetts in mid-1700’s from England. That ancestor had 2 sons who drowned but a daughter survived & married into Narragansett tribe. At some point the Mohawk bloodline came in. Family left the USA during American Revolution as United Empire Loyalists & moved to Quebec. My dad was raised in Quebec but born in Greenfield, Massachusetts. I looked a lot like my Dad & he & I had black eyes that looked like ancestor Daniel’s. I would like to learn more about Mohawk, Six Nations legends & myths. I live about 35 miles from the Six Nations Reserve. My father had about 3-4 acres of land at Spillimacheen, BC where he had a tipi set up & did ceremonies with his part-Cherokee wife who was from Texas. I was supposed to move into a little house he had on the land but he suddenly died in 2010 without leaving a will. I would also be interested in myths & stories from the Spillimacheen/Invermere/Golden area of BC. I find all of these stories to be a source of endless fascination! I hope we never lose them! They are NOT frivolous or to be scoffed at! Our stories & myths must be preserved & passed down. It is how our civilizations have been established. History & cautionary tales that entertain but also teach. If I were to research stories & myths from any of the nations in my family tree (Scottish,Dutch, English, Danish & First Nations) I would be forever occupied! How wonderful it would be to sit around a campfire & tell these tales!

I was up in that area a long time ago, in the 70s. Right around misty river, just south of Wrigley creek about 3 miles south of it with my dad and uncle, I was only around 16, but I know exactly what they speak of. We saw 2 of them creatures. No bull. To me they looked like the Patterson gimlin bigfoot film. One which was the Male no doubt about that, stood 12 ft tall. I know cause dad went back to the tree it was next to and measured its height, the other was only bout 8 ft. With breasts. We was only about 200 yards away and could see them pretty good with the binoculars we had.both had dark reddish brown hair over entire body. They didnt see us but they smelled us, they have terrific sense of smell. Well they moved off down the creek. We only saw them for like 2 or 3 minutes. But the Male was a giant. And I mean Giant!! The Bush people up there called them Naktani. I'm hoping to go back this year if this coroni stuff goes away.

Things they know but maybe couldnt explain exactly who what where or why all the time but were still important for safety and security. The old norse Irish Scottish and English fairy tales all have a big hairy human type creature that will steal children women or cannibalize people. I do not accept the land barrier as the singular method of reaching the Americas. The Ancients had Boats, and some may have been "Indigenous" and mixed in DNA in subsequent years. Likewise, there were extremely tall humans and there is enough variable writings on the finds to do a college Thesis. These include a vast number of science related writers, PhD's, and even a Science Journal - Peer Reviewed Article. Oddly these became ignored by Mainstream Academics and artifacts gone missing from Smithsonian.

Very cool stuff.... I am very interested in the Nahani/Nakani, as well as just the lands of that northern tip of canada, it is N. America's Siberia in a way with so much unknown about it. There is also that gravity anomaly up there where magnetic readings are wonky and gravity is lower then usual. I love the idea of a hidden civilization out there, on one of those islands or some cave or valley that has gone unnoticed by the general public, or intentionally kept hidden or undisclosed. Another possible link to these Nahanni or a related tribe of people is the Ainu of Japan, the most northern island is inhabited by the Ainu people, described as "very hairy men" and don't look japanese but some mix of mongolian or native american/caucasian like features. The tribal design of their clothes, accessories, and symbols look alot like some of the native amerindian/inuit groups shown at the very end of the video here. Maybe a link to the tribes that traveled across from asia to america... it is weird how so many various cultures around the world talk about some kind of invaders who are very hairy men.

@Rohan_Trishan
@Rohan_Trishan 4 роки тому
@Alex Yes, that is the one. The gravity anomaly supposedly caused by magnetically charged meteorite stone under the earth from a collision in the distant past. There is that gravity anomoly in NW Canada area, but also the one by Brazil which causes weird issues with planes/ships. I will check out the other explanations offered, but yea its def a strange phenomena.
@Rohan_Trishan
@Rohan_Trishan 4 роки тому
@@patrickshelton3053 Very cool... possibly another link to the Ainu of Japan? Or some other tribe that they decended from. I personally think there may have been an ancient polynesian race located somewhere in the pacific, possibly even a much larger continent sized land mass in the pacific like the fabled "Mu or Lemuria contient". But then some space collision with a planet or other asteroid hit that side of the earth and caused massive floods and stuff. There is evidence of a large asteroid near indonesia and stuff, but I'm thinking more like middle of the pacific, as if you look at the "ring of fire" that goes all around the pacific rim it makes a nice circular shape with the pacific ocean seemingly empty of any large lang mass and just scattered with smaller islands. Also, the tribal peoples in australia, polynesia, and S america share alot of similarities in culture, weapon design, language symbol similarities... stuff like that.

@HammersonPeters
@HammersonPeters 4 роки тому
I'm afraid that the latest wave is partly my fault. But the Nahanni legends used to be far more popular fifty years ago, and even more popular thirty years before that. Prospectors would go there looking for gold and hunters would go there looking for big game, but the place is so remote that it never transformed into a Banff or Whistler (and that's in spite of some people's best efforts). For better or for worse, that sort of transformation would be impossible now due to the Nahanni's National Park status; yuppies and outdoor adventurers couldn't do much harm to the place even if they tried.

I love this channel, and this is because of the subject matter of its content, which unlike most other channels, and pages found here on UKposts and around the internet, seems to me to be primarily focused on the stories and legends of the vast "Northwestern" & Boreal wilderness. What distinguishes it from the VAST majority of presentations on the topic of exploration, cryptids, and mysteries, is the non pretentious delivery of various stories from various perspectives, and based on actual legends and accounts which could very well be accurate to some large degree, and which I personally have had some experiences, having visited the NWT and, as I have lived and still do live (for now) on Vancouver Island 20 years of which fully in the old growth wilderness and in close proximity with the coastal First Nations. I cannot claim I believe in any particular cryptid, nor do I belong to any school of thought regarding the paranormal. As example: I do not believe in "Bigfoot" during the many years I have lived in and off the forests of British Columbia strictly for the love for them, the exploration and experience from them, I have never seen any evidence of, let alone a sasquatch itself. You the reader may be SURE that to do the things I've done requires uncommon vigilance, attention, skills and much more. I'm not talking about a camping trip, or the invasive, disconnected, hostile mentality of most Forest Workers or Rangers...And Yet - I Do Not Disbelieve. Things can get FAR stranger. - I HAVE definitely seen some very strange things over the years, and had experiences that are extraordinary even by "Art Bell" standards. It is quite possible many of the stories of the Nahanni are valid accounts of very real, albeit quite foreign to urbanite minds... I may differ from most people, in that I deem it a Fatal, and Capital MISTAKE to draw any conclusions until ALL possible FACTS have been gathered along with solid evidence, which then must be carefully processed. This requires an open mind - but not so open that ones brains fall out, it also functions best when one eschews "belief" and uses knowledge literally and exclusively as stepping stones to ultimately achieve a true living UNDERSTANDING. I neither Believe, nor Disbelieve, because I Now - Understand.

Sa'be, Annishinabe or Chippewa for Bigfoot is a known being and a part of the 7 teachings. Sa'be represents Honesty. Like Makwa or Bear, represents Courage. I've seen them and have had many experiences with Sa'be. Many times there are 3 or more of them together. They are illusive but not rare, and as long as you look, listen, and be respectful of their home, you too might see or be visited by them.
