@@512mb4 There is a difference between a CPU and an SoC. The SoC is the whole motherboard and soldered components included, you can connect the battery and display etc via additional cables, but the CPU, GPU & RAM is mounted to the SoC/motherboard. You should try doing your research on the PinePhone, there is an option to replace the SoC to upgrade to higher capacity RAM and the only tool it takes to dismantle the phone and disconnect the old SoC and replace it with a new SoC is a philips screwdriver.

@@512mb4 if that module contains the SoC and nothing else, then yes they are replacing the SoC. You don't say you're replacing a compute module when you upgrade a GPU, even though a GPU is just a chip.

@@abhisht6811 nope they beat the adreno 650 not the 660. We're being realistic here. So expect this new 710 to be somewhere around better than the 660 but not quite up their with the new adreno 730. But that's off recent trends. We'll see how they perform irl.

rDNA 2 on the next exynos should have ray tracing. It's rumored that apple is using Imagination's ray tracing cores on the A15 www.anandtech.com/show/16728/amd-samsung-exynos-rt-vrs. We still dunno what the next Adreno will have but we already know that Mali will be behind in features.

I can't say for this one, the only instance where I have used Mali GPU for PPSSPP emulators was 2016 Mali-T880 MP4, running good on 30fps and that's it, no more beyond that boundary Idk about newer generation though but as far as I can tell the newer one do run better significantly just poor optimization (?)

@@someoneyouneverknow7529 I have mali g76-mp10. It can run god of war ghost of sparta at 60fps 2x scale with hacks on but the rainy parts the fps is unstable

Apple didn't manage to improve that much. From A13 to A14, the performance gain is a measly ~10%. It was extremely disappointing considering that they were using newer node. Mali G710 is a solid improvement. With nearly no node transition, 20% is no small feat.
