there is merit to late game malignance to work with twitch's w slow scaling, but it's immediately shut down by the fact that when you get to the point of 95% slows on him, you definitely have enough damage to one shot them with e, completely negating any usage from malignance

Couldn't get a better game than that to prove how little to no damage the item does, malignance within 11 mins, with the same gold he could have bought two large rods instead of malignance and have 60 more ap on a champion that has an absurd scaling on his E and passive. The only positive i find about this item is how often you could end up using ulti to get an easy kill especially on the midlaner but if you plan to build it 2nd you most likely arent even in the laning phase anymore for that strat to be viable.

Idk seems like the only point of the item is the 45 ulti haste if you want to spam twitch R off CD but you can just choose to fight less and go defensive or something with more damage. Even if its a comp you can only fight in ult range you will rather just play around your W as ap. Super gimmicky . Don’t know why people keep talking about the damage though, it still reduces MR and he did use ult basically every time it was up so it wasn’t “that” bad . But no way its better than just going rabadons into zhon or banshees.

I think its one of those situational items into comps or teams that want to group so you can get multiple procs or xombo with heavy cc teammates.

The Ult CDR is... not really necessary, but nice to have if you're in a game with constant fighting. The DOT circle is pretty much worthless, and there's no good reason to build the item for this effect. The only way to use it more effectively is to get Runaan's so you can generate more than 2 circle dots per ult. Even then it's still a waste of money. Honestly the AD version of this item might be better anyway. Still not good enough, but at least you get AS and speed for it.

I have a question and I’m not trying to troll or anything, idk if it makes sense or not, but basically when you go nasher+deathcap+banshee+hourglass then you have to choose last item, and you already do TONS of dmg, would it be dumb to build a defensive item last instead of more dmg since you already do so much dmg? Ik ppl do stuff like this on ad but I mean on ap, since you already have 50mr and armour would jaksho be good? Since the item gets more value from having more resistances from other items as well? the only reason that this item would be good, is for tempo with ap twitch mid but even then it's still going to get outshadowed by other items, the ability haste + ult haste makes it really easy to make plays if you're strong / in a good spot but if you don't make those plays then you're fucked, just not good D:

Probably not great as an early item, I absolutely see how much it sucks to not have raw AP through rabadons early, but after that I could definitely see it as 3rd/4th item, since R remains at 90s CD and little CDR is built, the additional Ult CD might actually make a difference in a reasonable number of games. Plus, in a late-mid/late game scenario, the chances are higher to make use of the actual dmg effect of malignance because w is so much stronger and there tend to be more people that might be dmged by it. Hope he tries it for a few games at least.

I wanted malignance to work so bad this whole season so I could use it in ARAM. Everyone are in one lane so it gets more value and you go: first strike, treasure hunter, liandrys, malignance, collector/nashoor, shadowflame and your W cd is so short you become a poke mage that can poke them under turret. Invis makes it risky for them to walk up and ofc you need nashoors most of the time but depending on the comps you won’t get to auto a lot so I go without it in many games. Collector + burn is OP tech in aram and first strike + treasure hunter gets me full items while most others are on 3 lol

I think a lot of people just look at the damage the item deals in the tooltip that doesn't include the extra pen and say it's bad. However, twitch isn't exactly salivating over magic pen when the enemies are standing still, so i would say this item is still pretty bad on him :)

I'm just gonna try building this first. Malignance first, maybe I even skip Nash, playing him like a mid lane mage rather than an APC. It's... not GOOD, but I kind of Q + Ult for tower platings now already in mid lane. In low elo it might be enough.

There was a point where Malignance damage ticked for 2 in aram for 6 weeks but nobody noticed. The most dmg you'd see after a game was like 200, even on champs where the item should be good.

obviously this is broken in some situations. i would not buy it as 2nd item, its better to buy it more late game when the enemy comp allows to. In this video we always see situations where he didnt level his w enough so it doesnt slow much, also often single targets so he got like 1-2 malignance dmg areas. of course it doesnt do dmg. but think of a situation in late game where a 5v5 teamfight starts, enemy champs are near each other and the twitch w slows 90%. why would it be useless? you get like at least 7 malignance dmg areas, in most of the cases even more since you aa more often, all over the enemies. if they cant dash out easily they are slowed heavily and stand inside it for a while. they even stand in 2-3 areas of it at the same time. would probably do up to 5k dmg per teamfight. even if youre attacking a single target and he is slowed to over 90% without dash, he will stand in 3 malignance areas at the same time. as i said you usually build this item early game, but i would build it in late game. it even scales with ap and has higher value the more your w slows. nearly 100% ap ratio and reduces magic resist. how can people say its useless? Its completely broken. Sorry to disagree with ratirl even when he plays twitch for a living for years, but the test in practice tool says nothing. why does he test is with 0 other items and only does a single aa to test the dmg? thats just not the regular situation obviously
