Amen. Florio & Simms is good content. The two of them together is greater than the sum of their individual shows. Florio or Simms alone (or Simms with Ahmed/Connor) isn’t the greatest content in my opinion, but all three of those options are sooooo much better than having Miles as the alternative hahahaha

ATN is the one NFL property where league insiders speak their minds a bit more freely than any other platform owned by the league. They give controversial takes on the league and inside info all the time, but since the audience for the podcast is relatively low it hasn't mattered until now. Colleen had nothing to apologize for. She should have dared them to fire her. The NFL is all about promoting their female fans now. Not sure how that would have affected her future employment anywhere else. But public sympathies would have followed. Jets ticket holders, who pay a high price for their seats, deserve to know what is going in that dumpster fire of a franchise.

I don't think teams owning their own channel is a big deal. It serves a purpose. If there is a major development with the team or a player, then you go to that channel to have team executives inform you. Its not a place to critique people. Thats for outside journalists. Thats the biggest reasons some of the local newspapers have survived. They are plugged into their local team, and they are given scoops and the teams back off if there is criticism for the scoop. Guys have gotten chewed out over the way a story is written, but its not an eternal damnation thing. Well, maybe except for Mark Madden. If the team journalists were more about their feelings, we wouldn't need to watch national sportscasters. People would just travel to each team's channel.

In a way, I feel sorry for Colleen Wolfe. On the other hand, she has come off as snarky and know it all, and I think gets away with this due to her looks. She wouldn't be the first person to play off her good looks to get ahead. As a woman, it disconcerts me that she gives women a bad name because of this. It's so tiring for women to play off on their looks. When your looks go into the toilet as you age, what are you gonna do? She thought that being edgy and snarky would work, based on the fact she knows she's pretty and young. So much hubris there. Thank you Mike Florio for explaining this in a way people like me can understand. The Jets are a shitshow, no doubt. But I also believe that the NFL Network, being owned by those 31 teams, is also a shitshow at times. It's all about money and who has influence. Hopefully, Ms. Wolfe will stay in her swim lane and shut the f up.

They litterally immediately mention on the podcast, that the discussion could've been about anything - about wheter somethin is a good movie, or whether something is a good food. If the Jets owner and PFT didn't overreact, it would have been a non-story. It still is a non-story, there is just nothing happening in the window after Free Agency Frenzy and too early before the Draft, yet this empty window is not big enough for people to look away from the NFL. Otherwise, Laughable. Btw. isn't the Jets owner the one that was appointed by Trump as ambassador to the UK? I bet he learned how to use social media from his buddy/boss :D

So, the NFL operates a bit like the McDonalds model. You know, the movie with Michael Keaton that’s amusing but is flawed. But McDonalds I guess buys property where the “restaurants” are built - if you can call them that - then basically owns the land and building and licenses out the rights for some schmuck to pony up a quarter million, maybe more, so he can work 100 hours a week so he can tell his friends he’s a “business owner.” Then McDonalds leases out the land to the “owner” - he’s not really the owner - and forces him to comply with things like, “Your raw hamburger and frozen fries must be bought from us although we buy potatoes from Bill Gates since he owns millions of acres of farmland now. I mean, he does care about Global Warming, after all.” In other words, the NFL and McDonalds are like the legalized Mafia.
