Imagine taking a career ending injury and having the announcer's call be "Sauer is gonna be rather sour about that hit!"

It's a reminder why the league should probably have financial advisors for every team to make sure the players are making the best use of the money they have, because you never know when your career could suddenly end from a freak stroke of bad luck. Sad to see how some former players are really struggling financially and mentally post-career

The one that bothers me the most is Steve Moore. That whole incident could have so easily been avoided if the Dan Marouelli had been bothered to rule the hit against Naslund a bad hit, or if the league had bothered to investigate it better and sanctioned Moore for it. Their lack of action against Moore for what was dubbed at the time "headhunting" is what got so many Canucks players so mad, resulting in a proverbial bounty being put out against Moore. Less than a month after the upheld bad call, Moore was targeted by Bertuzzi, who drove him face-first into the ice, fracturing 3 cervical vertebrae. Dude literally broke Moore's neck because Moore caused Naslund to chip a bone in his elbow.

thats how concussions work. One concussion often leads to another, to another, the damage is done and then one day even a small impact is all that is needed. Hockey is the one sport where i absolutely would get the most protection i can. I would never play without a cage protection helmet. Or without neck-cut-protection of any kind. I seriously do not care about gear when I'm freestyle skating, because the worst that'll usually happen is some bone breaking and or bruises, unless you're very uncareful. But of course even when just regular skating you can kill yourself in some ways. But hockey? I take all precautions there because you can easily get injured by others.

How did some good of these even stop a whole career, it’s a fight

I feel like there could’ve easily been massive suspensions for some of these hits. Like, he injures the guy and then lands on top and keeps pummelling him...?

I don't really watch or understand hockey but I don't understand why those players are so brutal and literally smash their opponents into barriers - that is lirterally life-threatning. Shouldn't NHL put players' life and health first and severely punish those more brutal players? Like I said, I don't understand hockey so I'm happy to hear someone's opinion on that. To me, this brutality just seems pointless.

4:46 straight up looks like murder. I know people say fighting is a part of the sport but I feel they need to have some sort of rule to prevent things like that happening again. It feels like people aint thinking about the consequences, just look what happened to Derek Boogaard.

In football, an upper body shot can lead to a possible ejection. Football also have a helmet piece for the front of the face. Why is hockey any different? Yes, some of the videos are older and I hope changes have happened. Why does something major have to happen for changes to be made? Please be kind, I don't follow hockey.

Its too bad they havent invented equipment that protects a players face reducing these career ending injuries. Maybe like a cage or visor that screws into your helmet so that when a stick or puck comes up, it hits the cage instead of the persons face. Hopefully someone invents something soon!

This was mostly older players who were near the end of their careers or had a lot of previous concussions. If I was in the NHL and considering retirement in a few years and got a severe concussion I would probably just say I’m done and play mens league

Doesn't apply to as many in this video, but maybe add text to explain suspensions that come from the dirty plays.
