@@FalloutUrMum it's like Slavin. You don't notice the amount of work they put on the ice. There is more to hockey than just points. Being strong defensively. Playing aggressively. Wearing down your opponents top lines. That's how you set things up so your top forwards can score to win you games.

Well done, Carolina. The diehard Ranger in me is very grateful you didn't let the wretched Devils advance any further. As for those wretched Devils and their fans, hold your heads up high. You had an outstanding season with such a young and inexperienced group and should be proud of where you ended up. New Jersey fans have a lot to look forward to in the next few years.

Some decent goaltending at both ends of the ice tonight. I'm kind of glad Schmid got to walk down the tunnel knowing that he kept NJ in this one--hopefully it will lessen the sting of the first two games of the series. Go 'Canes.

IKR? You can board, rough, cross check, trip, slash, etc., but once you send the puck over the glass, the penalty MUST be called. Thanks NHL for calling the really important penalties. (/sarc)

The rule changed in the first place cause teams like the 90s Devils would rip the puck over the glass 40 times a game when they were under offensive pressure .

LET'S GO CANES!!! Back in the Conference final for the first time since Rod's first season. No more talk about second round and out! Love these commentators. They actually sound reasonably unbiased. Wish we could watch the Sportsnet broadcast rather than the ESPN/TNT broadcast we're stuck with here in the states. Now we rest and see who it is. Will it be Staal vs Staal & Staal (And former Canes captain Staal vs Current Canes captain Staal) or can the Leafs become #5 to come back from 0-3? Who knows. Don't care...'cause we're gonna be there!

Devils may have lost, but their fans should be hopeful with the team game they're playing, and how their goalie situation looks for the future. As those young players get more experience, it should only get better for them.

Boys overachieved this year, didn't get shutout or swept, and (the most important part) kept the Rags from winning. I'm happy with that, and with how the team is set going forward.

Like said earlier in the comments, Devils and Isles have a totally different play style, so much that one of them that the games can easily become blowouts Where the team whose play style works better wins with big Numbers. Canes and Isles have very similar play styles that are both so defensive minded(+Sorokin) that there isn’t going to be that much goals which obviously makes games tighter and easier for the worse team to win(or Sorokin to win the game himself)

Um. He had already been in the league for three years at this point so very much not a rookie, and he played the next year (and subsequent years, just mostly on affiliate squads). Scott Stevens hit isn't even the hit that people attribute to his decline. It was the elbow to the face the following year that screwed up his vision.

Congrats on making the final 4, Carolina. Great job in two series averaging just over 2 goals / game (remove the Devils snowman game and it is exactly 2 per game). Canes team D is ridiculous, phenomenal, more adjectives, etc. Boston eliminated *should* have changed the Eastern playoff dynamics but I don't think anyone is ready to dismiss last year's Presidents Trophy winner Florida. What a sleeping ninja they've become. Let's go Eastern Conference Finals!!

Have to hand it to the Hurricanes. Decisive wins over the Devils who beat the Rangers with Shesterkin in net in seven. It's probably going to be Florida in the third round for the Hurricanes who I initially thought would win but Florida beat Boston so anything is possible. Honestly, glad to see the Devils go down...pun intended.

A note to Sportsnet: I came to watch the highlights of Game 5 between one of my favourite clubs New Jersey Devils and the Carolina Hurricanes. On my UKposts channel feed to Sportsnet, to which I am subscribed, you announced the winner of this series BEFORE I had a chance to watch it! It was absolutely heart breaking to be informed of that result before I got the chance to watch the highlights! Please do not do that for the rest of the playoffs!!!

Ik people may think I am trashing New Jersey (Rangers fan here), but this ain't the case. I have to give them a lot of credit for leaving it all out there on the ice tonight. Very unfortunate how their season ended like this (I am very familiar with this feeling of watching your team lose a playoff OT game). But they have one bright future of what they accomplished this year. Wouldn't surprise me if they get back to the 2nd round of the playoffs next year depending how their season in 2023-24 unfolds.

Devils fan here , glad to see devils hang with Canes all game . However Canes we're better team, game could of went either way which is stinger , but happy with season. Best of luck Carolina playing good system hockey etc hats off , and look forward to next year. PS ranger ppl your roster and zero system wouldn't of gotten thru Canes I am sorry that is truth

Жаль, что Джерси вылетели, очень симпатичная команда. Конечно на кубок пока рано претендовать, но в целом достойно выступили в этом сезоне.

Сенсации на сей раз не случилось, хотя черти упирались рогами как могли. Основных претендентов вышибли, а из того что есть похоже что карлы наиболее вероятные. Может ещё листва, если коты из них гербарий не сделают.

Я не помню чтобы заведомый аутсайдер безнадёжно уступая в серии записному лидеру, которому чуть ли не заранее кубок вручили, вдруг вырвал победу, да вдобавок, по инерции, отодрал в 3-х матчах кряду следующего претендента. Хотелось бы чтобы Флорида взяла кубок. Они его по настоящему заслужили. Вот только хватит ли у парней сил?

So the 4 teams in the semi finals never have ice on their ponds for kids to learn to play hockey on? Dallas, Vegas, Florida and Carolina. This makes no sense to me. Yes I am a pissed off Canadian
