There was a brief moment in February where I actually believed that my brother and I would be able to go to a playoff game at the LCA this year. This last month has been the biggest gut punch I've ever had from a team I cheer for.

Lindgren has lost a few times and gotten blown out, but in the games he has won he has the best SV% and GSAA in the entire NHL (compared to all other goalies in their wins, to be clear)

Joe B. Use to do the national broadcast games of the NHL, on the former Channel "VS." Before it became, or was absorbed into NBCS. While still being the TV announcer for the Caps. So..his talents have been recognized. I've been spoiled since a wee lad listening to him, and Craig.

Wings blew it. 9 points ahead of Washington going into March and today they were behind them 1 point for the 8th seed. Today was a must win and they blew it after leading in the 3rd. With Washington on a hot streak now, that's pretty much the season right there. Lalonde and this team should be ashamed of themselves.

HUGE two points for the Caps, even though the Wings got a point out of it as well. Flyers gained a point too in their OT loss to the Rags. Regardless, great night for the Caps. Absolutely needed those 2 points!

just a couple pieces missing. Yzerman did one hellmof a job in those 3 years. Next bigger step now has to be a much much better coach with more experience who has the competence to get all of those massive talents coming up soon to their expected potential. Lalonde seems to just roll the dice creating those line ups week after week. Plus Chiarot and Petry 18 minutes a game??? Sprong a helathy scratch? He's like trying his very best not to make the playoffs!

Yzerman needs to find a way to add a top 6 power forward, 2 middle 6 grinders and 1 heavy top 4 defensive defenseman in order for the Wings to be a true playoff and potentially Cup contender.

The best part is the Caps have a game in hand on the Redwings and 2 games in hand and only 1 pt back from the flyers, we control are own destiny in both playoff positions right now. If we were to finish the season out .500 over the last 10 games and the flyers finished .500 over their last 8 we would take 3rd in the division and we also hold the tie breaker over the redwings right now with 28 regulations wins to their 25 which could end up being the difference.

Dylan is 3rd best of the 3 recent former Hawks forwards playing in this game. All 3 were kicked out of Chicago in the same couple years. They were a line together and scored a lot of goals.

With the tie they each got a point, and the Caps were up on Detroit for that 8th playoff spot by 1, and the victory in OT gives the Caps a 2-point advantage going into the next game.

I love the spirit that the Red Wings are showing. But I think next year will be better. If we make the playoffs we probably won't make it far. I see in the comments that Landry is not the coach that will lead our Wings to the playoffs and some Stanley Cups 🙏. I am dying as a Wings fan!! It's bad enough that the lions coaches decisions during the conference finals had already ripped my heart out.💔 I bleed Red Wings logos out every day

The better overall team lost, however this is what happens when said lesser team, does indeed have vastly superior goaltending. One final thing I will say is I’d much rather compete against the tailing Flyers for the final wild card spot than Washington. So keep winning, Washington.

Wings just threw the season. Doesn't matter if they win the rest of their games. They're not reliable to win in the playoffs. And Stevie Y needs to think this over. The Wings need that mentality from the 1990s- early 2000s if they want to be a winning club.

Хотя "крылья" и проиграли прямому конкуренту за вайл-кард, но 1 очко зацепили и главное, что в последних 2-3 играх "крылья" уже наладили игру и команда выходит из кризиса, в который Детройт угодил в предыдущем месяце. Ну и Ларкин вовремя вернулся. Так что надежда на попадание в плей-офф остается. Сейчас впереди серия трудных игр с сильными Каролиной, Флоридой, Тампой, Рейнджерс, а потом снова игра с Вашингтоном. В этих 5 играх надо набирать хотя бы 6-7 очков, чтобы не выпадать из гонки за плей-офф.

The wings aren't trying to make the playoffs,as I recall Tampa bay went through the same exact thing when yzerman was there once he got the right pieces built around stamkos they became serious contenders and won the cup the next 3 years !!!!!! And once he is finish building around Larkin we will be serious contenders and win some more cups I guarantee!!!! Perfect example Jim H Michigan !!!!!!!!!!!!

This Red Wings squad is just not a playoff team, and won’t be for a long time. Lost points to bottom feeders, and barely beat other bottom feeders. Husso blowing too many games at the start of the year, poor coaching, non-existent defence and building a team around a 2nd-line centre killed them.

@@icedo1013 We can't tell who you are either with a name like icedo1013. I would add to the list that the Wings can be pushed around easily, and teams around the league know that. The Wings don't deserve to be in the playoffs, but if they are lucky enough to make it, they won't go far. Their opponent will come in and dominate them physically. When I was at Gordie Howe's hockey school, one of his assistants was Bryan Watson. He wasn't even a Red Wing then, but he had made a name for himself at an earlier time with the Wings by shadowing Bobby Hull during the '66 playoffs, being a superpest. The Wings don't have those types of players on the roster, and the Wings haven't really adequately replaced Bertuzzi at this time. Soderblom's development is obviously behind or he'd be here by now. He was supposed to be a dominating presence in front of the net. I don't believe in this team's roster: there are some decent scorers, but it's not really a complete team.

Husso "blow" those games because defence of this team was trash the whole autumn. No goaltender would have survived that. Recently defence has shown to be bit better so therefore Lyon has been able to hold in some games. But this constant pressure towards goaltenders is just so f funny when whole team was absolutely clueless for basics of defence in whole autumn.
