Nikki Giovanni is 77, a civil rights activist, a poet driven to give voice to the Black community, and a self-described “little old lady” with a tattoo that reads “thug life.” And this fall, she has one message (written in verse, of course): VOTE.

I literally read this like 30 minutes ago, and I had to do a google search on this poem, and stumbled upon this. I love the beginning how she said it’s not a mistletoe at Christmas or an colored egg on Christmas. It’s a vote saying you are a citizen. Sometimes chocolate or vanilla, female or male, left or right lol this was a masterpiece

Love this. such an important statement. I learned about politics form my mother who started me working the polls at 7 years old. Just 2 days ago while lying in hospice at 89 years old and watching Biden's state of the Union address, she had a panic attack, because she was concerned that she might not get an opportunity to vote this year. Yeah my Mama is a thug too, and so am I.

My grandmother and Nikki are the best of friends to this day.they wants me to go see a Jimi Hendrix concert but my grandmother said she had to stop hanging out with her because she was too much of a revolutionary

We are intensely brain washed about the voting process considering the Eli t es already knows the winner. We were never considered "citizens" but slaves implemented foreign interest. As the war escalates into a physical battle, a select group will suffer from stockholm syndrome. Please extract these actors even if they appear to some remorse.❤

Vote third party. Don’t expect to win in the first election cycle. Lincoln was a third party candidate who went all the way in the Republican Party’s second cycle. Abandon the duopoly! Voting for the lesser of two weevils is still voting for a weevil.
