Eric Timmer agree 100%. I had a very early release 350z in 2003. It was a great car for the price.....back then. I added 19" wheel, Eibach pro-kit springs, nismo exhaust, headers, and intake. Guess what, 16 years later and the car really isn't all that different. I outgrew the Z car, and moved on to an e46 m3 (amazing what another 30+ HP and a couple hundred pounds lighter due for performance) and then it came time for another new car and the M3 E9X got too big and way too heavy, then waited for M4 which got lighter, BUT even larger, so then waited for M2 which was smaller, BUT only 25 lbs lighter than the M4 and much less HP. So I finally said screw it, and got a 911 (amazing what an extra 25 hp, a couple hundred lbs lighter than the M3 E46 will do, and feel of a Rear engine is just so Good!!!). But looking back, I am still amazed that Nissan leaves the 370z with very little improvements, and the GTR is kind of similar (started out as a car quicker and perform better than 911 turbo, Ferrari, etc.... They have made incremental gains since then and now the car is double the price, the style is all played out and it now performs "about" as good as a standard 911s, and certainly not as good as a modern prancing horse). I kind of feel like the best thing Nissan has going for it lately is the Infiniti Q60 400 sport red edition, and that's not even a full on sports car, but it looks nice and performs adequately (but why don't they just throw the GTR motor and tune in there and bump the price a bit?).

I think, a new z line in 2024, the nismo version in 2025, and a GTR in 2027, or maybe 2028, and the nismo version 2028, or 2029.

But they clearly didn't make it handle much or they would have noticed fuel starvation in right hand corners, flawed gas tank design. It's a bit of a joke really.

@@Coyote.five.0 If you never ran into fuel starvation then you're not taking the corners fast enough, on right hand sweepers mine would starve at 70% fuel left. The Z also lacks a real LSD, the brakes are roasted too easily and you can't fully disable stability unless you pull a fuse. I loved mine but it definitely needed a lot to make it a truly great track car.

@Arthur Wall my tuners have said drivetrain loss is approx 40hp to the hub. So that's a reasonable estimate given your talking whp.

The z is high compression, 11:1 u need to swap out those pistons if your gonna boost safely and reliably. Trans and oil coolers are needed too

@@oracleofpelham511definitely not the case the trans takes some ridiculous power. People use the manual trans out of these for their builds in other cars. Also the guy is right, some people have 150k miles on a boosted one of these.

It's called Active Sound Enhancement, it really sounds terrible. It can be turned off by the dealer. I have a Nismo 370Z and I asked the dealer to turn it off, then I installed a custom exhaust. Now only pure V6 sound :)

Agreed, but they need to put a much better rear differential in it BEFORE they add power. Stock rear diff (yes, even the nismo version) = complete garbage / one tire fire / won't put the power down unless you have 1 month old tires properly heated up. You can however just buy a wavetrack with a proper shorter final drive which is what I'm doing for mine. Z1 Motorsports = WIN!

been there n done that with a wrx. Never again. 6-8 cylinder + turbo = much smoother and more likely to last longer as you won't have to run insane boost levels. Nissan just needs to put the new VR30DTT in the Z (it's in the overpriced Q60)

Sander, the 370Z also has a 55/45 weight dist. No way you will achieve 1200kg kerb weight without exotic materials (Al/Ti/C) and I know which car I'd rather be in when some idiot slams into it in their Cayenne. The R35 engine might be built in a "hermetically sealed lab" but it's simply a variation on the VQ as featured in the Z. Technologically the engines are very similar.

+ you can change the alignment+front swaybar and rear differential = much better rotation abilities. I love mine, beats having another "me too" suv/cuv/camaro/stang/yawnfest on the road.

@@blademanx because BMWs have much more modern tech all around and a more advanced transmission. I mean they manage to get a 530i 0-60 in the low 6s and that's nearly a 2 ton sedan with only 248 HP.

I've had mine for five years and love every moment. Have done multi-state trips in it with ease. The issue is the stock bridgestone tires. I got rid of those in the first 6 months of ownership (they are completely disgraceful and possibly the worst tire on any car I've ever owned, no joke!); Sound deadening goes a long way, so yes, you do have to be willing to spend some hours taking things apart and posses some patience, but it's cheap/easy to do.
