Just imagine: a little boy/girl decades ago hanging in the neighborhood growing up visiting a little shop everyday that they love to visit and saying hi to the shop owner to brighten his day and grab a handful of candy... and now decades later, the machine is being restored to its former glory and reviving a small piece of history. Thats my favorite part of these videos is imagining the story and history behind the littlest trinket.

@jenslundy
@jenslundy 5 років тому
@@clray123 Cooking oil is a horrible lubricant for mechanical lubrication. It gums up, especially on rotating parts. Once the solvents evaporate it becomes a sticky mess. It may prevent bacterial growth, but I'm not sure there are too many problems with bacteria issues in bulk M&Ms. Having worked on industrial food processing equipment for years has taught me that cooking spray as a machine lube causes way more problems than it solves. There are far better food safe options to keep this machine in top shape.

When I was a child there was one of those stores that had everything, back when Mom and Pop businesses ruled the USA. At the storefront there was a bank of these vending machines and my brother and I really wanted some of what they had. We got some change from mom as she waited to pay the clerk and went for what we wanted but got a shocking surprise. The dime we used opened the floodgate and stuff just poured out! We told the clerk then asked if we could have two small bags and permission to plunder. I remember thinking this was so fantastic, little bubbles with glittering rings and small toy cars. Believe it or not, many of the things were made of metal!

When my brother and I was 4 and 6 we were at the corner store. You have to understand how it was set up. My uncle and grandma lived right next door to the corner store and we was visiting. My brother and me each on one side of the gum ball machine start rocking it back and forth till finally it fell and the glass broke and gum balls went everywhere. Naturally they knew us and our parents had to pay for it. Nice restoration 👍

Absolutely great videos. Saving collectibles /antiques are great. I do it with wood and with as little surface disturbance as possible. I like to save the character. The only thing in this video that I saw was that after everything was said and done, the embossing on the glass container was placed 180 degrees off from its position on tear down. Still, such wonderful video and restoration Thanks!
