To me it looks like none of them were fooled by the optical illusion, mostly they were concerned about stepping on a weird surface. Try this experiment again with the thing face down, so no weird pattern, just a strange new surface.

I don't think from a lower level it looks so difficult. If they react to anything, it's the fact the flooring is just different texture now. You could put white paper down and get the same reaction. I think being at our level, you see it as 3D better.

Aww Yuki was unusually cautious, Monty wasn`t fooled at all and Olives head tilts were adorable. The cats were "oh no not again, lets humour him and pretend"

Olivia certainly had the cutest response to the challenge, while Monty was like 'No, no falling for this', but I loved Sonya when she just walked off camera. But everyone is a winner on this one.

Maybe this just proves why animals can survive in the wild. Who is able to convince ppl to provide them shelter, soft beds, go out and hunt for their food for them and provide them with continual entertainment and all they have to do is just humour them occasionally. Smart! 🐶🐕🐾😸🐱😺💕

Belka and Sonya know from life experience (and they perfectly recall each one of their 9 lives) that it's too dangerous to walk in the middle of the road. Bat is a mysterious black cat at ease with black lines wavy or straight in the middle of nowhere. He enjoys the pleasure of camouflage.

Yuki's reaction was best. Very timid, then she realised it was not real

Yuki and Monty exudes confidence seems likes they're saying easy Dad while Olivia whose meticulous thinking verify first if it is not dangerous to cross. I love the way cat react they just relax slowly crossing the mat.

Olive was the perfect example of the heightened olfactory senses of a dog. She totally trusted her sense of smell ❤ those cats proved they are total skeptics😆😆😆

4 legged creatures are very aware of uneveness on the surface they are walking on, and because the optical illusion surface is actually flat and even, the cats and dogs which all had a quick look at the hallway floor they were about to walk on, and then quickly discovered the floor was flat and did not require any unusual walking adjustment.

Monty was the only one not fooled by this illusion. Yuki and Olive had to test it, but not the second times. Same for your kittens. Nice look for the floor though.

The camera angle at 2:33 shows the "dogs actual view" of the floor covering ....and it pretty well gives away the "trick". There is only an "optical view" from higher up. From "one foot off the ground" level, there is little to no "optical" condition. .

It would only look like the optical illusion from the camera's angle and height, not from theirs.

There is a channel I follow from Japan that features a male and female otter. He used the optical illusion rug that appears to be a spiraling down hole, at the bottom of some stairs and the male otter would have none of it. He had to pick him up and place him on the rug and even then, he was kind of freaking out. 😂 I love how Yuki was initially apprehensive and almost tiptoed over the mat. It's interesting to see how animals perceive things humans find confusing, like optical illusions. I suspect the cats weren't bothered because their pupils are shaped differently than other animals. Their vertical slit pupils allow them to see at distance clearer than closer for better tracking of small prey. Your furry family is so sweet ❤
